“Social media has colonized what was once a sacred space occupied by emptiness: the space reserved for thought and creativity.”
Mahershala Ali

A new test - a new start

Before we started, we discussed which content and comments we would reward. Since we are going for Art and Artists, we voted accordingly. Creativity, talent, niches is our priority, but in practice that doesn't always match how the Steemit improvers see it. The artistic spirit gets blocked by their old-fashioned rules from years back like a minimum word count, where they completely ignore the guidelines of creative communities and their contest rules.

If those who are supposed to help improve content (to lift users and the platform) force writers, creative content writers and artists into a limited word count, creativity gets killed again!
Poetry, photo contests, and character-limited writing shouldn't be accompanied by hundreds of words of nonsense text. This is usually a copy-paste job, that no one will ever read, while stripping words of their power. We have been there, it did not work. These are only posts with 300 to 1500 words of filler in the hope to be labelled as quality. Unfortunately, these posts are still most rewarded and therefore supported to continue instead of promoting real improvement.

We would really like Steemit to become a buzzing platform, and not see the last active artists and true writers, who also tend to be the best commenters, chased away.

Voting

For voting, we used a 100% vote as our baseline. We judged content on title, text, photos, and hashtags. We left layout out of it. Depending on how the.content scored on those points, we deducted percentages.

Commenting & Tips

Since there is only one curator team dealing with comments and keeping engagement high, we invested extra time there too. We commented, gave help, and tips through both the booming account and our personal accounts. We also invited Steemians to join competitions, including a lot of newcomers whomall seem to be stuck into writing diaries and nothing else. We noticed there are a few skilled, funny, regreshing writers among them staying unnoticed.

Questions we are left with after week 1

How come Steemians aren't pushed to write something else? To try out something new, to improve?
Why aren't tips given about the title, pictures and hashtags?
How come talents aren't noticed and highlighted?
Why aren't Steemians told to join contests instead of everyone writing diaries? This only increases th trashy content in certain communities, and variety and creativity on the platform keeps dropping.

Newcomers

Reading notifications and replying to comments from newcomers, even those who have been here for weeks or months, and still use the hashtag newcomer, is almost non-existent.

By now we all know a high level and SP rarely come from writing "quality" content, let alone from texts that are actually read and receive personal, heartfelt comments that lead to actual conversations and will make Steemit the vibrant platform it should and can be.

When all think alike,
then no one is thinking.

NOMINATIONS

Nomination 1
Film reviewer: @netflixr

Anyone who thinks they’re about to read a review of the film, or rather, the film’s story, has come to the wrong place. Netflixr has a particular style when it comes to describing films, in this case Freaky Tales. Contrary to what you might think, this is not a fairy tale, nor is it a ‘freaky’ story as such, but it is certainly a waste of time. This review will be better and more entertaining than the film.

"Unfortunately, for the most part the film is just a mess though. I feel as though it has its high rating on IMDB and RT because people, especially professional critics are afraid to call this film out for its obvious misgivings out of fear of being labeled as a racist or Nazi sympathizer. There are only 153 total reviews for it on IMDB so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that there is a good chance that this is a bot farm or some level of social-justice-warrior California types that either desperately want this movie's message to resonate, or Lionsgate could be hoping to make this film worth a lot more than it actually is in streaming.

If you made it all the way through that 2 minute trailer, you have probably already suffered enough. I went through the entire 107 minutes of the movie so that you don't have to."

A beautiful drawing of the cats: Frida, Dólar, and Tequeño, who belong to Doña Ana, a woman who loves her cats as if they were her children and who constantly encourages Josh to draw because according to her he is a great artist. I share Doña Ana's opinion:

"Besides that, she is one of the people who likes my drawings, has always believed in my talent, and has told me that I can go very far.

Colouring Dólar was different from colouring Tequeño because he has short, greyish fur; to achieve this, I used a scalpel to draw fine, short lines to add detail to the fur around his face.
For the grey tones, I used olive green, ochre, black and grey, applying them in layers to achieve the perfect contrast.
On his chest, I used white, applying it in the direction of the fur; for his eyes, I chose a greenish-yellow shade that conveys a great sense of calm."

This is a story in which the protagonist tells us that at the chemical factory where she worked, she had signed a confidentiality agreement not to tell anyone what was done there.
One of the tasks she was assigned was to dump some substances in metal containers into the river. It was an easy job. But with disastrous consequences for humanity, as "nature" began to subject the inhabitants to unforeseen natural phenomena that endangered their lives.

"Everything went back to normal and I started being like I used to be, but now there was a sign from heaven indicating that what I had done would not be forgiven, and that if the people around me didn't know about it and if I wasn't judged here, then nature would punish me for my actions."

A mat or rug woven from liquid washing-up liquid packaging. This isn’t just a creative activity, but also helps to reduce waste, and the result is you end up with a fantastic, unique item. The photos are clear, as is the description. In this case, the participant has used the hashtag art in a creative way to describe the theme of her day.

Some stunning photos of Iceland have sparked a debate about the right to a referendum and the fact that Icelanders are not keen on joining the EU. What a privilege it is to still be able to have your say here, something that is certainly not the case in every EU country that calls itself a democracy.

"I just read an opinion on this matter and found it really funny. One of the points was: how can they be allowed to hold a referendum - what kind of democracy is that? 🤣 And also - Can we honestly say now that Iceland is in the 'club of the rich'? Well, no, we can't. 😅
I think only a Bulgarian can understand how absurdly sad all of this is. Although I pretend I'm laughing."

From a Community that was about to die to The Exquisite Corpse. That’s what creative minds are good at and lifting Steemit. They’re not about to let the community or Steemit bleed to death. Will you join?

"Did that bloke insult you? Or hit you, perhaps? Growling, I turned back to what’s-his-name. What was his name again? Let’s call him Jon.
Jon stared at me in shock: No, for heaven’s sake, I’m just as shocked as you are, I don’t know what’s going on here, I haven’t done anything!..."

Is street art and does it matter if it comes to art of spray or brushes are used?

"I encountered a piece of land that has been cleared for quite some time and there was some reasonably good street art there.
Nothing special, but not bad. Some of it was great and I would like to see more of it. The rest was crap as is expected but one of the things I really enjoyed about all of this was that the stuff that was sprayed was all on a spot of land that was not yet developed. They weren't really ruining anyone's private property...
These pieces I found today aren't necessarily all that amazing, but they are spray and they are original and I really appreciate that. Street art done with brushes kind of pisses me off because well, it isn't really street art now is it?"

Terimakasih @wakeupkitty atas nominasinya 🤗

If a text is well-written, I doubt a reader will overlook it. They are like beautiful flowers. They are there for all to see. They don't speak. But they don't go unnoticed by those who enjoy contemplating natural beauty. Warm regards.

This BOOMING vote is yours and well deserved!

Thank you for the attention and support! That was an endless topic - one that could be discussed and written about extensively, yet, in reality, it is a painful subject, best left unbroached. I sincerely envy those who do not dwell on these matters and who find a peace, otherwise non-existent, within their imaginary daily lives, where everything appears normal.
Anyway, you have taken on a truly noble task. As I have said before, perhaps the time will come when all rules, guidelines, and expectations fall away, leaving only one thing that matters: a human presence rather than a machine-generated one. I sincerely hope that time does not arrive soon and that I am merely a pessimistic prophet of doom. And I strongly hope that, for the foreseeable future, we will stick to guidelines about writing meaningful content and simply... being human, with all our flaws and imperfections. Good luck! 🤞🍀

Thank you True colour Team, I love to create stories maybe because I love to dream. This is soemthing that we all benefit having this passion to write to create, to share with others and to live the life of our characters. If we manage to make other people interested in our creation that is the best gift and acknowledgement of our work.

My congratulation to other users for your creative work!

This BOOMING vote is yours and well deserved!

What is the point in investing that many hours a day to help out making this platform better if I do not take this seriously?
In September a new test is started, one we tried in the past many times, same issues were noticed back then (see the post of @paulag I resteemed to my blog).
By now it could have been that platform if everyone would have taken it seriously.
It is not too late, even if a small part works for it, the effect will be noticed but not if all noses point in different directions and creativity is killed because we lack to recognise skilled, talented people.
