True Colours 11: Curation Report - BOOMING03 - Week 3
No idea is entirely good or entirely bad.
It all depends on who benefits, or doesn't, from the proposals.

It is the third week of October. It is autumn in Europe; the trees are shedding their leaves to survive the winter.
The Earth feels like a "pressure cooker": global warming, wars, and corruption everywhere. Like the Earth, most of us humans are subjected to devastating stress that takes a toll on our bodies, our spirits, and our souls.
For many, Steemit is an escape, or perhaps a mirror, allowing us to see ourselves not just as bloggers, but as imperfect human beings prone to showing favoritism toward "friends," "family," or "fellow countrymen."
We are sensitive, art-loving, spirited women... but above all, we are hard workers. We embrace our commitments with passion. We are not perfect, nor do we pretend to be.
Votes & Nominations
The entries we have nominated meet the following criteria: Creative, Art, and Talent (CAT).
No vote is cast without reading the content, offering advice or saying a word of encouragement. Not a single nomination was made out of pity, friendship or to fulfil a promise. Nor have we overlooked "our enemies" when it comes to an upvote or nomination. We have focused on the art, the talent and the message, not the person.
Ideas & Improvement
We are nearing the end of September 2026. There are many new ideas, like buds on the trees, the fresh, green leaves, and many fallen leaves on the ground signaling change. However, we want to take this opportunity to invite all platform users to "evaluate" what we have now and what is yet to come.
Every project can be improved. That is why we must be open to new ideas and changes and adapt flexibly to them; improvement will not happen overnight.
Creativity & Voting Comments
We are happy to see that creativity increases and the same counts for the number of comments, but... You will not notice it if you never set foot among the artistic, talented Steemians like we do. We could say the comments are booming! Although, there is plenty to vote for we decided to focus this week more on our theme: Art & Artists. Therefore it is the first time in the history of True Colours we voted for more posts than comments, this in the hope another SC team would pick up and be actively voting comments, but .. that didn't happen.
Newcomers
We have noticed that, on average, those who use the hashtag ‘newcomers’ are not willing to promote themselves or to edit or improve their posts. Some wondered why they no longer receive the same upvotes as when they first started. It seems that those upvotes did not act as an incentive, but were taken for granted, and that there is no reason to make an effort if you are rewarded in advance and consequently labelled a good writer.

Also this week we actively commented with our private account, as moderators and with the Booming03 account.
We can proudly state that by now we received as Booming03 by now 137 good replies! Imagine if that would be the case with every booming and steemcurator account and the private accounts of the curators and their communities.

It’s not only brilliant to see how Lotus Island takes shape through the step-by-step instructions, but it’s also educational. What seems easy to some can turn out to be quite a challenge when you have to do it yourself. I love the end result.

His hyperactivity, his disorganisation and his way of doing things made him difficult to control...

"A new park has opened today, where there is a dedicated area for skaters, rollerbladers and outdoor enthusiasts - an extreme park.
I think kids of all ages will hang out here, and I enjoyed spending time there myself!"

Even if you don’t eat much, this isn't your taste and you don’t cook much yourself, these photos are appetising enough, just like the text, to make you think: ‘I’m going to make this too.’ And to answer the question, I would go for chicken.
"I wanted something simple, filling and, most importantly, very tasty. I love how the crispy yam goes so well with the soft, spicy tomato sauce and tender beef. This was the meal I had in mind from the beginning: freshly fried yam served with a rich tomato sauce filled with beef.
Now I'm curious, though...
If this plate was placed in front of you right now, would you eat the fried yam with the sauce separately, or would you pour the sauce all over the yam?

*The commenter, reflects on the responsibilities of being a curator on the platform. I have shared her rather unpleasant experience from when she first took on these duties. She proposes some interesting ideas that the Steemit Team (@steemitblog) might well consider for future approaches to curator workflows.
"I was a curator on just one occasion and I really didn’t feel like applying again; it’s a gruelling job and the rewards aren’t proportional to the effort. I’ve always believed that for a company to be productive, its employees must be well paid and happy with what they do. As well as being assessed, incentivised and motivated, mistakes should be corrected and good performance rewarded.
Curators don’t comment on posts, don’t give advice, don’t correct mistakes, nor do they offer suggestions; sometimes I think they don’t even read the article and just go through the motions of casting their vote."

Thank you! It takes a lot to train someone like me to even comment, so I think it's understandable why people are reluctant. There could be some valid reasons for that. Maybe except for the rude ones or those who just don't care about their readers. There's nothing I can say to that.
But I think this place has gotten so much better for me compared to when I first started out. It's the kind of place I keep coming back for. It's part of my support system now. Something that I need to check in on each day. If I skip a day, it usually means I'm busy or my mental health spiraled badly, So there's a huge amount of personal positivity in this for me.
And you're so right about exchanging experiences. Whether it's reading others' stories or reading about your painting, I learn so much and get to experience it right along with you, even if I'm not doing it myself.
We have tried to encourage artists. There aren't many on the platform—or perhaps there are, but since art isn't always highly valued, they choose to publish other types of content instead.
