SLC-S33/W5 | Our Surroundings: Let´s Talk About The News - Let’s talk about the economy in your region?
My community is not rich like that; there are still moderate people in my community, and what the people in my community do the most is farming.
What are the main economic sectors in your region currently?
The main economic sectors in my region are agriculture and farming. In Nasarawa State, we farm a lot, and we are known for solid minerals because of the fertile land in the state and the kind of resources that we have in Nasarawa State.

The good thing about Nasarawa State is that each community is blessed with unique agricultural products; some communities are good at farming beans, some at yams, rice, plantain, potatoes, cassava, and maize. In my own community,y we are best known for farming maize. Corn is what we farm a lot, and during this season, when you visit my community, you will see a lot of corn farms both in the bushes and closer to houses.
How would you describe the relationship between average income and expenses in your community? Tell us about basic goods and services.
Well, my community is not a community where the rich are staying far away from the poor. Everyone in my community is treated equally, but the expensive in my community has more advantages than the average incomes because they can buy whatever they want and send their children to good schools outside my community.

The basic goods and services in my community are cassava corn (maize), rice, tomatoes, and groundnut. These are the basic goods that are mostly farmed in my community. The services are mostly healthcare and farming services where labourers are hired to do farming activities.
Are there education and job training programs available? How do they influence regional productivity?
Yes, there are education and job training programs available. There are schools in my community where people. We have both primary, secondary, and tertiary education in my community. As for job training, there is usually job training most of the time.
The education system influences people by making them know they right, what to do, and what not to do. Job training helps to create employment opportunities and teaches people some skills, like how to apply chemicals, how to operate a computer, handle farm equipments and produce large quantities of crops.
Are there any infrastructure projects that could change the economic landscape in the near future?
Currently, there is none apart from road construction. The infrastructure project currently is the construction of a road in the town and in my community, which is currently ongoing. This road construction will eventually improve economic activities as it would be easier for people to transport their goods from one place to another.
If a foreigner were to come looking for a job in your region, what would you recommend? In which sector and area could they find employment immediately?
Well, if foreigners were to come looking for a job in my region, I would recommend them to the agriculture sector because they would have the finances and resources to improve and develop the agriculture sector in my country, and they can start exporting agricultural products from my community to their country.
Environmental impact & (With pictures + videos) & Location (Steem Atlas pin)
The only environmental impact of the farming activities in my community, especially how people farm closer to their houses, is that it increases the spread of mosquitoes and other dangerous animals due to the bushes around houses.
