Meaning Of Wealth - What School Did Not Teach Me. Date: 23/10/26
Hello Steemians,
Welcome to my blog. Today I want to share what I have learned about the real meaning of wealth. In school they taught us that wealth means having plenty money, big car and big house. But life outside school taught me something different.
1. Wealth Is Not Money - Money Is Just One Part
School said if you have money you are wealthy. But I have seen people with money who are not happy, who cannot sleep at night, who have no peace. True wealth includes money, but it is not only money. If you have 10 million in account but you are sick everyday, are you wealthy? No.
2. What School Did Not Teach Me About Wealth:
a) Time Wealth: The ability to control your own time. A man who earns 30k but controls his 24 hours is wealthier than a man who earns 500k but works 18 hours daily with no time for family. School taught us to work for money, but never taught us to make money work for us to buy back our time.
b) Health Wealth: If you don't have health, you have nothing. School never taught us that drinking water early morning, sleeping 7 hours, eating vegetables is wealth. But today hospital bill can finish all your savings.
c) Knowledge Wealth: What you know is wealth that nobody can steal. School gave us certificate, but not real knowledge. The knowledge of how to bargain in Mile 1, how to select 40 pieces of okrika polo at 500 naira and sell at 2000, that knowledge is wealth.
d) Relationship Wealth: Who you know and who knows you. My friend who sells clothes in YKC introduced me to his supplier. That one connection saved me 20k. School did not teach relationship is wealth.
e) Peace Of Mind: The greatest wealth is sleeping without fear of debt. No landlord knocking, no loan app calling. School taught us to collect loans to look rich, but never taught peace of mind is the ultimate wealth.
My Conclusion:
True wealth = Money + Time + Health + Knowledge + Relationships + Peace of mind.
Since last month, I am not chasing only money. I am building wealth in knowledge by learning business in Mile 1 Market, wealth in health by drinking more water, and wealth in time by waking up early.
School taught me how to work for money. Life is teaching me how to make money, time and health work for me.
What does wealth mean to you? Is it money or more than money? Let me know in comments.
Thank you for reading.
