The day I almost quit from entrepreneurship
Last December, I deleted all my business files.
I told my m

om "I’m done. I’m going to look for a job."
I was 24 hours from quitting entrepreneurship forever.
If you’ve ever felt like giving up, this is for you.
It had been 8 months.
No clients. No sales. Data finished. Light was off for 3 days straight.
I had spent my last ₦15,000 on ads that brought zero.
I sat on my bed in Benin and thought:
"Maybe I’m not cut out for this. Maybe my friends were right. Maybe I should just get a 9-5."
The shame was worse than being broke.
The trigger?
A client I worked with for 2 weeks ghosted me. No payment. No message.
That was the final straw. I said "God, I’m tired."
That night I called [name of person - mentor, friend, brother].
I was crying. I told him everything.
He said 4 words that changed me:
"Quitting is permanent. Problems are temporary."
Then he reminded me WHY I started: To build something for my family. To prove that a boy from Benin can make it.
I remembered my "why".
I remembered the nights I used free wifi.
I remembered I had come too far to quit at the hardest part.
So I didn’t delete my WhatsApp. I didn’t delete my pages.
I slept. And woke up the next day.
6 months later:
That "failed" month led me to my first $1000 client.
That ghosting taught me to take 50% upfront.
That breakdown led to my biggest breakthrough.
Here’s what I learned:
- The breakthrough is after the breakdown. Every entrepreneur has a "quit day".
- Don’t make decisions when you’re emotional. Sleep on it.
- Talk to someone. Don’t suffer alone.
If you’re at your "quit day" right now, please don’t.
Not today. Sleep on it. Talk to someone.
Your $1000 client, your breakthrough, your win... it might be 30 days away.
That was my story.
When did YOU almost quit? What kept you going?
