After 8 Years, I Discovered I Can Still Make Hair!

I haven’t made hair for anyone in years. In fact, I never formally learned hairdressing from anywhere. When my older siblings started having children, I somehow found myself making braids and kiko (flogging) styles for their kids.

I stopped doing it about 7 or 8 years ago, so I honestly thought I had forgotten how to do hair.

Recently, I was just discussing hair with my friend’s younger sister, and I told her that I could probably still make hair, especially this flogging style, if I tried.

She said, “Okay, make mine.”

A few days later, she called to ask if I was free to make her hair. I said yes, and she came over to my place.

Let me tell you, it was NOT easy.

Her hair was very strong and had quite a lot of undergrowth because she was trying to grow it back to its virgin state. I had to cut it small-small as I worked so that the style would come out neat and last longer.

It took us several hours. In fact, we practically did vigil over the hair.

But at the end of the day, I looked at the finished hair and honestly couldn’t believe my eyes.

After 7–8 years of not making hair, I could still bring out something this beautiful!

And the best part? She was happy with it too, despite having to sit for several hours.

Maybe the hands really do remember.
