The Diary Game || [23/10/2026] | My Adventurous Day at the Farm | A Chronicle After Many Years
Hello Steemians,
Good evening everyone! I hope your day went well. Today was another adventurous day for me, and I did something that truly made my day fulfilled. Let me share my diary with you.
Morning Routine
It was another day of work and duty. As usual, I woke up very early, around 5:30 am. I said my morning prayers and did some light stretching.
My friend, Glory, had already told me yesterday that we would be going to the farm today. I was so excited because it has been a very long time since I last did farm work.
We quickly did all the morning chores as usual. I swept the compound, washed the dishes from last night, fetched water, and prepared a simple breakfast of pap and bread for everyone.
After that, we prepared for the farm. We carried cutlasses, water bottles, and some empty sacks to pack the cassava. We were just waiting for our driver.
Then the guy who was supposed to drive us to the farm came. His name is Wisdom. Wisdom is a licensed driver, so he was the only one fit enough to drive us to the farm. The farm is quite far from town, that is why we decided to use a car instead of a motorcycle or bicycle.
We all got into the jeep, locked the house, and started the journey.
The Journey to the Farm
The journey was very interesting and smooth. The road was not too bad, and we were gisting and laughing all the way. Wisdom drove carefully while we enjoyed the fresh morning breeze and the beautiful view of palm trees and green bushes along the road.
When we got close to the farm, we could no longer drive the car inside because the path was too narrow and bushy. We had to park the jeep in someone's compound for safety before going into the bush. The owner of the compound was very friendly and allowed us to park there.

The place we parked the car
We all alighted from the vehicle and moved into the small path in the bush that led to the farm. We walked for about 15 minutes, with Glory leading the way because she knows the farm better than us.

On The Farm
It was sunny, and the weather was very favourable. The sun was shining brightly, but there was also a cool breeze blowing which made the weather perfect for farm work.
We got to the farm and were amazed by how much the weeds had grown. We immediately started work. We harvested a lot of cassava. However, the farm was old, and some of the cassava tubers had already rotted in the ground due to over-staying. That made me a bit sad because we lost some of the produce.
The weed had actually outgrown the cassava, so we had to clear the bush first before we could even see the cassava stems. We shared the work among ourselves. Wisdom was cutting down the tall grasses with his cutlass, Glory and I were pulling out the cassava from the soil. It was not easy at all. My hands were dirty and my clothes were stained with soil, but I was enjoying every bit of it.
We kept on clearing the bush and kept searching for the remnants, just to go back home with something reasonable. After some hours of hard work, we were able to gather a good quantity of cassava. We were sweating profusely, but our hearts were full of joy. Farming is truly hard work, and it made me appreciate farmers more.
We took a short break under a big tree. We drank water and rested for some minutes, sharing stories and laughing about our childhood farm experiences. It was a moment of bonding for us.

Returning Home
As noon drew near, around 1:30 pm, we started packing up the cassava into bags and carrying them to where the car was parked. The bags were very heavy! We had to carry them on our heads through that narrow bush path. It took us two trips before we could move everything to the jeep.

Packing up to go home
After we were done, we had a little twist. Glory became our new driver! Yes, Glory can drive too, and she volunteered to drive us back home so that Wisdom could rest. At first, we were a bit scared, but she drove us home safely and very smoothly. We were all praising her driving skills.

Arriving home
We got home around 3 pm, tired but very happy. We offloaded the cassava and washed our hands and legs. I quickly took my bath and had a delicious lunch of garri and soup. I spent the evening resting.
Reflection
It might sound simple and less adventurous to some people, but to me, that day was one of the best days of my life. It has been a long time since I did farm work. Going back to the farm after so many years reminded me of my roots and the dignity of hard work. It taught me patience, teamwork, and gratitude.
Thanks for going through my blog and post. I really appreciate that

Thanks for the support and encouragement.
