Sunflower oils are great but not miracles
Sunflower oil is advertised as a solution to improve the appearance of my skin on the knees, elbows and even underarms, and I do have a few legitimate questions about whether this is true. The people I saw on Reddit and X who give straightforward answers about the effectiveness of this product have either not looked at the research or are clearly trying to sell something.
Sunflower oil has benefits for your skin, but the outcomes reports that people are giving about the product are very much exaggerated. Sunflower oil has an acid called oleic which is able to get the deeper layers of skin and break down some of the pigment that is causing the skin to darken. They also have the linoleic acid in sunflower oil helping to rebuild the skin barrier and reduce the darkening caused by the inflammation. This product actually prevents melanin from forming and reduce post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is the dark spots that are left from irritation from problems like acne, the one thing I pray I never have and reason why I have some skin care products.
All of this is true and this is backed by research, you can go look it up toz you'll see I'm not lying.
I think the main reason people have a misconception about this product is that they are expecting some level of skin bleaching to happen. It is not clinically considered a lightening agent. Sunflower oil does not work in the same way that your kojic acid, niacinamide and retinoids work. Those products go straight after melanin and destroy it, but the sunflower oil does something that is entirely different. Sunflower oil works to remove the damage that has already happened which is some of the damage that prevents healthy skin from being revealed and improve the entire condition of the skin. All of that together is what creates the clear and obvious differences that people are reporting with this product.
The areas where people mostly see the highest results from using sunflower oil are the underarms, elbows and knees as I mentioned in the early part of my intro. These areas usually have friction and inflammation which sunflower oil is able to work on to lighten the skin and it does this by improving the hydration and irritation in the area.
The most important thing you need to focus on is being consistent. This product is not going to produce results if it is not used on a consistent basis so that the skin is actually able to improve.
The oil works slow but it does work. Just don't be expecting immediate results, it's not a miracle product, you'll be disappointed if you do. It's great for everyday mild cases of hyperpigmentation but for the severe cases and severe hormonal cases, sunflower oil won't be enough. You should go to the dermatologist for that.

🎉 Congratulations!
