Do you know how much knowledge and efforts it requires to make sure that a farm produces enough stuff to be able to plant on fields and to get harvest.
When we talk about breeding that means that there are always two different plants who have the best quality such as resistant to cold, plants resistant to certain insects and also sometimes plants are more resistant to heat and also to dry climate. From each plants the best qualities will be taken and a new plant with the best quality will be created.
Using this method of breeding of plants the farmers get better harvest from both quality of plants and also the volume.
Often it could be confusing between plant breeding and also genetic modification, that has a bit different approach. In order to get better harvest the DNA of certain plants will be selectively removed and gene modification will take place in order to reach again the best quality. Sometimes those methods are under testing and often it might take sometime to make sure that those modification will not lead to harm to health of human.
Precision breeding itself does not involve any artificial input and often that is something that also takes time and maybe few generations of plants will require in order to get it stronger and with time finally the perfect result can be achieved.
Maybe you also noticed that after such breeding the plants may loose their natural taste as we know. Also we know on example of tomatoes that nowadays they are stronger and also can remain fresh for longer time unlike in the past when tomatoes within a week get soft and sour. Still many people try to grow own tomatoes on their balcony or in garden and then their original taste is also preserved.
