SLC33-W3: My Community, My Story – Transportation in My Area.

Assalamu Alaikum I hope everyone is well by the grace of Allah. I am also well. Today I am very happy to participate in the Week 3 challenge of Season 33. This week's challenge is organized by the honorable @josepha. According to the topic of the challenge organized by her “SLC33-W3: My Community, My Story – Transportation in My Area”, today I am sharing with you the real experience of my recent trip on the railway train, an important and widely used transportation system in my area.

What is the common means of transportation in your community? Tell us, including the location of the transportation

There are various types of transportation systems in our area including rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, easy bikes, buses and trains for people to travel. Among these, trains are an important and affordable means of transportation in our area. Recently, I returned home from Rangpur to Badarganj by train. On my way, the train waited for some time at Shyampur Railway Station. This station is an important part of the rail communication system in my area, where many people travel every day for various needs.

Which mode of transportation system do you use more often in your community and why?

Although I use rickshaws, auto-rickshaws or easy bikes for various needs in my area, I find trains more convenient for long journeys. Recently, I also traveled by train while returning home from Rangpur to Badarganj. One of the best things about traveling by train is that it is relatively inexpensive. The train fare from Rangpur to Badarganj for my journey was only 20 taka. Besides, while traveling by train, there is no need to worry about traffic jams and you can travel while looking at the green nature of the village through the window.

How affordable, safe, and convenient is the transportation system in your community?

In my experience, the train transport system in our area is quite affordable for the common man. It is possible to travel from Rangpur to Badarganj for just 20 taka, which is convenient for many passengers. Traveling by train is also relatively good in terms of safety. However, along with convenience, time is also important. On my recent journey, my train had to wait for almost an hour at Shyampur station due to two trains crossing in a row. I did not know beforehand that I would have to wait for so long, so it seemed a bit of a hassle to me. However, during this wait, I got a chance to explore the station environment and take some pictures.

Tell us the challenges that you and other commuters face with the transportation system and the improvements you would like to see.

One of the main problems of train passengers in our area is sometimes train delays and long waiting times. In my own experience, my train was stopped for almost an hour due to two consecutive train crossings at Shyampur station. Due to such delays, passengers have trouble reaching their destinations on time and many may also be late for important work. Therefore, I think that the train schedule should be kept as regular as possible and passengers should be informed in advance if there is a long delay for any reason. In addition, if the seating arrangement, cleanliness and quality of passenger service at the station are further improved, the transport system in our area will be more beautiful and passenger-friendly.

What advice would you give to a visitor who is about to use the local transportation system in your community for the first time?

I would advise any visitor traveling by train in our area for the first time to know the train schedule and fares well before the journey. It is also good to reach the station a little early, because sometimes the train can be delayed due to crossings or other reasons. So, one should travel with sufficient time in hand. Along with this, one should keep their necessary belongings carefully and follow the safety instructions of the station. However, if one wants to travel on a low budget, the train system in our area can be a good option for a visitor.
