How do you use AI in your personal life and in your work?

Artificial intelligence has become a practical part of my everyday routine. Rather than turning to it just for answers, I mainly use it to learn, work through problems, and stay productive.

In my personal life, I use AI to strengthen my English, compose professional messages, sort through my ideas, make sense of difficult topics, and pick up new skills. When something is unclear, I can ask it to explain the subject in plain language and give practical examples. That makes learning easier and saves me time.

At work as an electrical engineer, I use AI for a range of technical and documentation tasks. I have used it, for example, to understand pre-commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning procedures, motor testing, cable testing, and insulation resistance testing, and electrical equipment. Rather than trying to make sense of dense technical material on my own, I can ask AI to walk me through the procedure step by step and connect it with practical work on site.

I also use AI when working with Excel, VBA, BOQs, procurement data, load lists, SLDs, P&IDs, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). If an Excel macro is not working, for instance, I can describe the result I need and ask AI to develop or fix the VBA code. That way, I learn more about automation rather than carrying out the same repetitive tasks by hand.

AI also supports my career development. I use it when preparing for electrical engineering interviews, refining my CV and job applications, drafting professional emails, and making sense of job requirements.

However, I don't blindly trust AI, especially for engineering work. Technical information must be checked against applicable standards, project specifications, drawings, and manufacturer documents. AI can provide useful guidance, but the engineer must verify the information and take responsibility for the final decision.

For me, AI is not a replacement for my knowledge or experience. It is more like a personal assistant and learning partner that helps me learn faster, solve problems, save time, and become more productive.
