The Diary Game |02-10-2026 | A delightful day with my sons at the OPA Fun Fair.
Greetings,
How are you all of my steemian friends. I am good.Hope you all are well.Today I am sharing my another post.
Since today was a holiday, I was in no particular rush to get up in the morning. After waking, I had a light breakfast and then rested for a while longer. My day began in a very relaxed manner. Once I had rested, I got up and started preparing lunch. As I had planned to take the children out later in the afternoon, I wanted to finish cooking lunch early so that I wouldn't have to rush later on.

After lunch, I got ready to head out with my children. Every year, St. Placid’s School and College where my eldest son studies organizes a fun fair, with the support of the ‘Old Placidians’ (alumni). The primary objective is to raise funds to cover the educational expenses of under privileged and needy students at this missionary school.
The fun fair features a variety of games and entertainment, along with a lottery. Students from every grade are required to purchase at least five lottery tickets; my son participates in this every year.

Upon arriving at St. Placid’s School and College, the first thing I did was purchase two entry tickets. Since I had brought my two sons along, we needed two tickets; however, children under the age of five did not require one.

After entering the premises, I headed straight to the lottery draw counter. There, purchasing a lottery ticket for 30 Taka offered a chance to win a prize by scratching it. Unfortunately, I didn’t win anything, and I had to walk away from the counter empty-handed.

Since the fun fair was held throughout the day, the 'Old Placidians' took the initiative to provide clean drinking water and refreshments (sherbet) for everyone. I went over and got some refreshments for my two sons and myself, and the three of us enjoyed them together. We really appreciated this thoughtful arrangement, especially given the hot weather. I felt a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for the organizers for providing free, clean drinking water and refreshments for all.

After enjoying a few games, we headed over to the book fair section of the fun fair. It featured a wide collection of books suitable for children. Next to the book stalls, there were several food stalls organized by school student offering a variety of treats. These included biryani, fast food, chocolates, and phuchka, along with a range of refreshing drinks. Overall, the area was vibrant and engaging; it offered children not only a chance to have fun but also the opportunity to enjoy their favorite snacks and pick out books.

I tried the alur chop (potato fritters) there with my children. Since the food had been prepared by the parents of the school students, I was impressed not only by the taste but also by the level of hygiene. We thoroughly enjoyed the alur chop.
However, I noticed that the fast-food stalls were more crowded with children and their parents. Parents were also encouraging their children to try the food they liked. Because the stalls were managed by the parents themselves who had prepared the food at home there was a genuine, familiar, and warm atmosphere throughout the event. I really appreciated that.

The most appealing aspect of this fair, for me, was a small nursery setup. Visitors could receive a plant in exchange for handing over 8 to 10 empty plastic bottles. I found this initiative to be quite unique and truly commendable.
As visitors at the fair consumed various beverages such as drinking water and soft drinks a large number of empty plastic bottles were accumulating. This initiative, which involved collecting these empty bottles and offer plants in return, struck me as a wonderful effort to both protect the environment and raise public awareness.

Upon hearing this, my son didn’t hesitate for a moment. He quickly gathered several empty plastic bottles and turned them in at the designated spot. Receiving a flowering plant in return brought him immense joy so much so that his enthusiasm for exploring the rest of the fair doubled. Such initiatives not only help keep the fairgrounds clean but also encourage children to become environmentally responsible and take an interest in planting trees. Small, conscious efforts like these can make a significant contribution toward protecting our environment in the future.
After wandering around the fair for a while longer, I decided to head back; knowing that waiting until the very end would lead to massive crowds and make it difficult to find transport, I left just before the fair concluded. Upon reaching home, I washed up and took care of a few necessary tasks. Once those were done, I had dinner and went to sleep.

Your outing with your two sons to the OPA Fun Fair sounds like a wonderful way to spend a holiday together. I found the purpose of the event particularly meaningful because the funds raised would help underprivileged students cover their educational expenses. The book stalls, chocolate stalls, and different food options must have made the school grounds lively and exciting for you and your kids. I really think that the book stall and chocolate stall looks really good and well arrange and It was also nice that you and your sons enjoyed the alur chop together, especially with the food prepared by the students’ parents.
Although there were numerous initiatives presented at this event, there was one idea that captured my attention, exchanging empty plastic bottles for flowering plants. Witnessing how your child excitedly collected the bottles to get a chance to receive his very own sapling was such a memorable experience. This experience proved that learning about nature could be so much fun for children. Besides entertainment and snacks, the Earth Day Fair taught important values such as compassion, education, and nature conservation. I really hope that the sapling planted by your son will mature and sprout in good health. Stay blessed and have a nice day.
