My #s34improvement Weekly Summary
Warm greetings to everyone.
As part of Season 34, I have been trying to participate in the #s34improvement challenge by reading other Steemians' posts and sharing constructive suggestions that may help them improve the quality and presentation of their future posts.
My intention was never to discourage anyone or simply point out mistakes. Instead, I tried to give my feedback politely and positively so that authors could feel encouraged to improve.
I mainly focused on small details such as using justified text, better Markdown formatting, adding captions to photos, choosing more suitable and diverse photographs, improving the presentation, and adding more details to their stories.
Below are some of the improvement comments I made during this week.
1. Post Link: The Diary Game 4/09/2026: A Simple Trip to Visit a Friend in a Nearby Town
I appreciated the way the author described the trip and meeting with a friend. I suggested including more activities from the rest of the day so that readers could get a more complete picture of the author's daily life.
I also suggested adding more interesting and relevant photos from different activities, along with short captions explaining each photo.
Another suggestion was to use Markdown formatting and justified text to make the post more organized and visually attractive.
My main suggestions were:
- Include more activities from the day.
- Add more relevant and diverse personal photos.
- Add short captions below photos.
- Use Markdown formatting.
- Use justified text for a cleaner presentation.
2. Post Link: The Diary Game – Learning How to Play Chess
The author nicely shared the experience of learning to play chess. I suggested that the Diary Game could be made more complete by including different activities from the whole day rather than focusing mainly on one activity.
I also noticed that many of the images appeared to be screenshots. I encouraged the author to include more personal photographs of their surroundings, food, places, and daily activities.
I also recommended using captions and justified text to improve the presentation.
I shared this suggestion from my own experience as well, because I also used to make the mistake of focusing on only one event when I started writing diary posts.
3. Post Link: My Diary Game – A Productive Day
This diary included many activities, including prayer, household chores, beat making, watching movies, and spending time with family.
I suggested adding more photos related to those activities, such as meals, beat-making, or other moments from the day. I also recommended adding captions to make the photographs more meaningful.
Finally, I suggested using Markdown and justified text to make the overall presentation more organized and attractive.
4. Post Link: The Diary Game – A Day of Fishing, Friendship and Relaxation
The author shared the fishing experience with friends nicely, and the photos helped show the experience.
I suggested adding more details about the fishing trip, the location, the fish caught, and how they spent their relaxing time together.
I also recommended adding captions to the photographs and avoiding similar-looking photos. Using different moments and better-composed photographs can make the post more visually interesting.
I also suggested using justified text and keeping the orientation of photographs more consistent for a cleaner overall presentation.
5. Post Link: The Diary Game | 1 Sep 2026
This was a detailed diary, and I particularly enjoyed reading about the author's first online purchase and the experience of checking the mini rice cooker before paying for it. The post also included household work, gardening, studies, and coaching.
I pointed out a few spelling and sentence-formation issues and encouraged the author to continue practicing and proofreading.
I also asked a couple of questions about the mini rice cooker because I believe questions can help create meaningful engagement.
Regarding presentation, I suggested adding captions to the photos and maintaining a consistent photo orientation. I felt that landscape-oriented photos could make the overall presentation even more attractive.
6. Post Link: From Melon to Magic: My Delicious Homemade Melon Soup Experience
The author shared an interesting post about making melon soup. I suggested using different photographs instead of two very similar images so that readers could see different stages of the cooking process.
For a recipe post, I recommended describing the cooking process step by step. This would make the recipe easier to understand and potentially easier for other readers to recreate.
I also reminded the author that a Diary Game generally becomes more complete when it includes different activities from throughout the day rather than focusing only on a recipe or a single incident.
7. Post Link: The Diary Game for 29/08/2026 – My Mother and I Went to the Dentist
I enjoyed reading about the special moments from the author's day and also wished their mother well.
I noticed some grammatical and translation issues in a few sentences and suggested proofreading and using language-improvement tools when necessary to make the writing more natural.
I also recommended adding short captions to the photographs and describing activities from different parts of the day; morning, afternoon, and evening to make the diary more complete.
8. Post Link: The Diary Game – Went for Hiking With Friends
This was a detailed diary about a hiking experience with friends. I enjoyed the way the author described friendship, teamwork, nature, and how they supported one another during the hike.
My suggestions were mainly related to presentation.
I recommended leaving a little more space between the text and photographs to make the post cleaner and easier to read.
The author used portrait photographs, which were nice, but I suggested adding some dedicated landscape photographs to show the beauty of the hiking location more clearly.
I also recommended adding short captions to each image so that the photographs would be better connected with the story.
Common Improvements I Focused On
After reviewing these posts, I noticed that several small improvements can make a significant difference in the overall quality of a post.
Better and More Diverse Photos
I encouraged authors to use more personal photographs and to avoid repeatedly using similar images. Different photos can show different moments, activities, places, and experiences more effectively.
Photo Captions
I frequently suggested adding short captions below photographs. A caption can tell readers what they are looking at and connect the photograph more closely to the story.
Markdown and Justified Text
I suggested using Markdown formatting and justified text to make posts look more organized and easier to read. Even simple formatting improvements can make a post feel more polished.
More Complete Storytelling
For Diary Game posts, I encouraged authors to share different activities from throughout their day rather than focusing only on one event. This can give readers a more complete picture of their daily life.
Writing and Grammar
Where I noticed spelling, grammar, or sentence-formation issues, I tried to point them out politely and encourage the authors to proofread and continue practicing.
Encouraging Discussion
Whenever possible, I also included questions related to the post. I believe a good improvement comment should not only identify something that can be improved but should also encourage the author to continue the conversation.
My Approach to Improvement Comments
While writing these comments, I tried to remember that every writer has their own level of experience. A correction can sometimes feel discouraging if it is presented too harshly.
Therefore, I tried to begin by appreciating something positive about each post and then offer a few practical suggestions that the author could apply in future posts.
My goal was to say, "Your post is good, and here are a few things that could make it even better," rather than simply pointing out what was wrong.
I hope the authors I commented on will find these suggestions useful and that we will see their posts become even better in the future.
I am also grateful for the opportunity provided by Season 34 to focus not only on creating content but also on helping fellow Steemians improve their work through constructive and meaningful feedback.
