The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) Testnet has crossed another significant milestone. The network has now completed over 290,000 blocks and, having operated stably over an extended period, is ready for the next major development phase.

Network Stability

The core infrastructure of the current SVM Testnet is operating stably.

Specifically:

  • The consensus mechanism is functioning consistently
  • v0.0.4.x security patches remain stable
  • Optimized oracle clients are working effectively
  • Oracle data ingestion is proceeding without major interruptions
  • Bridge attestations are being completed reliably
  • The network has stabilized following the validator set upgrade cycle

Maintaining predictable operations over a long period without major network interruptions is crucial for production-grade blockchain infrastructure.

Preparation for Sherpa Protocol Deployment

Having achieved over 290K blocks and long-term network stability, the SVM is now ready for smart contract deployment and the Sherpa Protocol rollout.

The primary focus of development will now shift to:

1. Sherpa Protocol Smart Contracts

The native DeFi capabilities of the Sherpa Protocol will be deployed and tested for the SVM ecosystem.

This will include:

  • DeFi functionalities
  • Trading
  • Liquidity features
  • Smart contract-based applications

2. New SVM App

The user interface for the new SVM App is also in the finalization stage.

This will simplify the following for users:

  • Wallet connection
  • Transaction monitoring
  • SVM interaction

The consistent uptime and node maintenance by validator operators play a crucial role in maintaining the current stability of the SVM.
