Woman who went viral for filming noisy foreign teens goes public

I get annoyed about how it seems that almost anyone is trying to use any situation they can possibly gather to benefit themselves and the culture of using your phone to film everyone and then post it online is a part of modern society that I really dislike.

Recently a younger Thai woman had a clip of hers go viral when she filmed some foreign teens on a train in Bangkok that were being noisy and then when she confronted them they became agitated and rather than pipe down they got a bit aggressive.

Nobody threw any punches but middle fingers were thrown around and some less-than-thoughtful statements were made by a lot of the people involved.

Initially I was worried that this was going to feed more fuel to a sort of growing sense of anti-foreigner sentiment that is constantly going on in certain parts of Thailand.

I felt like all parties involved were wrong in what they did: The teens definitely were disrespectful but the woman who was filming them is no angel because she was using this situation to boost viewership on her TikTok, which unfortunately seems to be a global trend.

The wonderful world of the internet immediately set in motion to try to dox the teens and in some instances this was successful. It was revealed that they were an Italian tour group and that was all I read into it. The Italian embassy issued an apology in Italian, Thai, and English in an attempt to diffuse the situation but as you would expect, people seem to be more interested in being angry than they are in being correct in their actions so the hubub about this has continued.

The girl in question filed a police report and to me, this kind of looks like she is simply looking for attention for herself because the rabid media was all over it.

She has gone to a police station to file a report of some sort and the police have promised to investigate the incident. What sort of investigation could possibly be done is anyone's guess because while the teens were being rude, it would be a real stretch to say that they had actually broken any sort of law.

I will not say the girl's name because I don't want to encourage this sort of behavior but now she has reached out to the media stating that she wants the teens to apologize to the entire country, not to her personally. If this is truly her motive, than why make certain that the world knows your name and also pushing for more traffic to your TikTok?

To me this seems like her attempting to get some sort of benefit out of this for herself personally, rather than genuinely being interested in preserving some sort of respect among the Thai community.

Apparently, her meeting with the police took 5 hours of questioning and at this point I have to ask if this is really worth anyone's time. Is it really?

People are rude sometimes but at the center of it all something is being ignored that shouldn't be. Why was she filming the incident in the first place if her real motive was just to inform them that they were being too loud and to please quiet down? Why does she start recording before she ever said anything to them?

Personally I wish this entire thing would just go away. As far as the teens are concerned I think the best thing they can do is to just be very quiet about this incident and go about their lives without even addressing it any further. I really don't think that and good can come from this by pursuing it any further.
