The Alive Preacher’s Wife
From the outside, my life looked like the kind of life people trusted. I was a preacher’s wife—the woman standing beside the man people called a servant of God, the man they welcomed into their homes, listened to from the pulpit, and believed they knew. But behind the church doors, behind the prayers, smiles, handshakes, and carefully chosen words, I was living a reality almost no one could see. The man others looked to for spiritual guidance was the same man I feared in my own home. I learned how easy it is for a person to hide cruelty behind a collar, a Bible, and a reputation—and how difficult it can be for the woman living through it to convince anyone that the person everyone trusts is the person she is desperately trying to survive. My story isn’t about a perfect preacher who suddenly became a monster. It’s about the difference between the man everyone thought they knew and the man I knew when nobody else was watching.
