The Diary Game | Site Work in Izmir, Project Reviews, and Unwinding After a Long Day

Today, I want to share with you a regular but incredibly busy day of mine in Izmir. It was a highly productive day where I both swallowed the dust of the field and buried myself in the details of the projects at the office.

Morning: Site Routine and a Healthy Start

I started the day early with Izmir's usual beautiful energy. With the discipline that comes from living alone and sticking to my healthy weight gain program, I prepared a solid breakfast rich in protein and carbohydrates. Starting the day energetic is crucial for me because a tiring shift awaited me on the field.

After breakfast, I headed straight to the construction site. As a civil engineer, my priority today was to perform the continuous foundation reinforcement bars control and check the formwork before the concrete pouring. It is a massive responsibility to check millimeter by millimeter whether the rebars are tied according to the spacing in the project. Despite everything, I love that dusty, noisy, yet dynamic atmosphere of the construction site.

Afternoon: Office Work and Paperwork

After completing my inspections at the site in the afternoon, I switched to office mode and sat down at my computer. Of course, fieldwork also has a desk-bound aspect. I spent the second half of the day organizing official paperwork processes and reviewing newly arrived projects. Diving deep into the details of static projects and making sure the field matches the data on paper requires high focus. This process can be quite mentally exhausting, even if not physically.

Evening: Missing My Brother and Returning to the Green Pitch

By the time I got home in the evening, the fatigue of the day had really settled in. Since we sent my brother off to his mandatory military service this August, the house is a bit quieter in the evenings. I prepared a quiet dinner for myself.

To clear my mind at the end of the day, I returned to my favorite routine: grabbing my coffee and diving into Football Manager! Seeing the execution of the tactical system I built and adjusting the training programs for the wonderkids takes away all the exhaustion of the construction site and project reviews.
