Young Trainers Are Better
Young trainers can sometimes connect better with swimming trainees, especially younger learners, because they may share similar energy, communication style, and cultural references.
A trainer close in age may feel more approachable, less intimidating, and easier for children or teens to relate to during lessons.
That said, age alone does not decide connection. What matters more is the trainer’s patience, teaching skill, confidence in water, and ability to understand each swimmer’s fears and goals. But my kid gets better connection with this young swimming trainer.
Dear Steemians, an older trainer may bring calmness, authority, and experience that can help nervous trainees feel safe. A young trainer may be enthusiastic and relatable, but if they lack discipline or communication skills, the connection may still be weak.
So, while young trainers often have an advantage in rapport, the best swimming instructors are the ones who combine empathy, clear guidance, and trust-building, regardless of age.
