The Forgotten Village — Ink drawing.

Sometimes you really want to recall something but can't; other times, you do recall something but forget why you wanted to remember it in the first place—lol.

There are things one wants to forget and never think of again—war, for instance—while there are others one wants to remember and never lose sight of: the details of the thoughts behind moving from the city to the countryside, the process of building one’s own home, and the dream of one day finishing it—sitting in a cozy living room, sipping tea with family, and looking back on that challenging journey, recalling how we sought God’s will in everything and strove to avoid taking any rash steps of our own.

Some things, once forgotten, come back to mind as we re-evaluate our values.

Lately, many city dwellers have been buying houses in abandoned villages; they realize that the land can sustain them regardless of restrictions, and they are no longer deterred by dilapidated cottages or weed-choked plots of land.

Perhaps every drawing should be like a journey full of the unexpected—starting with a blank sheet of paper.

I imagine that if I had to seek out an abandoned village, I would have to make my way through thickets of nettles and other undergrowth.

You can only get around on foot there—unless you want to bottom out your car, getting it stuck in the deep ruts of a road overgrown with weeds.

And perhaps—if you’re lucky, lol—you’ll glimpse old houses and crooked fences through the tangle of bushes and trees; if they don’t scare you off, they might become your new home—or simply a modest drawing that managed to illustrate my thought.

You're drawing is very nice and inspiring also your post carries such deep reflection, Your thoughts on leaving behind the noise of the city for the peace and self sufficiency of the countryside resonate strongly.
