New York tries and fails to set record for "most spidermans in one location."

There are all sorts of silly world records and I just had a thought: Were the records always this silly or did we just get more bored with time? Certainly the world-records when Guinness first started doing this were more sporting or at least involved some sort of farming accomplishment like growing a really huge pumpkin? Right?

While I don't do Comic Con or anything like that, I am not going to try to crap on other people's parades and I think those mostly guys and some girls have a great time at these events.

New York recently tried to set a new world record for a rather bizarre thing that I can't believe is a real award when they wanted to have the most people dressed as Spiderman at one venue at the same time.

I don't know about you, but I have never been in a room with more than one Spiderman at a time and don't really need to up my game in that realm either. The current world record is held by some group in Malaysia and they had the help of Sony Pictures Entertainment and at least to me that seems like an unfair advantage. They were also celebrating the release of the latest Spider Man movie and unless something happened in the world that I don't know about, there isn't a new one right now is there?

Maybe they should have gone for the world's most powerful BO (body odor) collection in one room. I hear that Comic Con is pretty well-known for that as well.

I'm not calling this dumb, even though that is kind of what I do. Everyone can be into what they are into. As long as you aren't hurting anyone else, do your thing!

By the way, the New York Comic Con failed to beat the record. Apparently there was no official announcement about this but the event's own organizers admitted to some members of the press that they were pretty far shy of beating 685. Dammit nerds! Get out there when Comic Con needs you!
