That's Not An Excuse

I mean, I have an answer if you want me to go, but I thought I'd give you the floor first. Oh, no. You can go first.

Well, Stan, I mean, all politics is local, right? And I feel like we got really organized with the Tea Party and the pushback in the early, I mean, that was three months into Obama's first term. And I think maybe that's the problem. I feel like that we get a little comfortable.

Hey, look, our team won, so I guess we can, you know, chill out for a while. And that's just not the case. I think one of the most, I don't know if the word shocking is accurate here, but one of the most amazing things that we kind of learned, especially from what Doge uncovered, is how our government was absolutely, it became a shell company, really, for NGOs in just 30 ways.

So now we know this stuff is there, and we must make sure to see it through, to see that this fraud, and that's the thing. J.D. Vance has continued to repeat that if you got the fraud out, we would have a balanced budget, which takes me back to my point about the late 90s. That is probably, give or take, about the time when people started getting wise, and like, hey, this is where we can hide money.

Yeah, look, we've got carte blanche access to this. Okay, cool, yeah. And I just fear that we get too comfortable.

We get too comfortable that, okay, I can relax. We've got a Republican House, Republican Senate, Republican President. So I've got at least two years to chill and relax and not hold my politicians' feet to the fire.

Oh, no, you need to be holding every politician's feet to the fire, whether they're a Republican or Democrat, as demonstrated countless times in our history. And so it's just, it's right there. It's right, the answers are right there.

We just have to make, and this goes back to what you were saying earlier, Bill, I think it was your point, I apologize, maybe it was Stan, about local government, man. I mean, my city council, I live in a very small town, and it is the most dysfunctional, ridiculous collection of idiots. And my excuse, and I'm just, I'm putting myself out there, my excuse that I don't attend the city council meetings as often as I should or as often as I used to, but I watch them online, and then I'll reach out if I need to, and I don't even get to all of them that are posted online.

But my excuse is, okay, well, I wake up at 3 a.m. for my job, and I'm too tired, and by the time the council meeting starts at 7 o'clock, he doesn't until 10. That's not an excuse. I'm an American, damn it.
