Justice for Everyone
On Facebook, two very similar posts from people I know popped up in my feed, one right after the other.
The first post was a photo of a girl with a bandaged finger, captioned: “Broke my finger yesterday :(”
The second post was a photo of a guy who'd also broken his finger, with the caption: “Broke my finger.”
Under the girl's photo, there were tons of comments:
“Poor thing!”
“Get well soon, sweetheart!”
“Hang in there, our sweet girl!”
Under the guy's photo, there were tons of comments too, practically from the same people!
“What a dumbass!”
“Where the fuck did you stick it?”
“Ha... At least you didn't break your ass!”
Unfair. I felt bad for the guy.
I'm all for gender equality. We're all human beings, after all!! So I decided to even things out!
I commented on her post: “Ha... At least you didn't break your ass!”
And on his post, I wrote: “Get well soon, sweetheart! Hang in there, our sweet boy!”
I'm a fucking feminist!!

You put words on something I have seen but never named, that finger thread. Communities grow on replies, not broadcasts, the comment section is the product. Have you seen this work offline too?
Of course, communication between people creates communities ,interest groups, and so on
