One of the coolest VF-3 cars I’ve seen yet

I was out for a stroll the other night because a big rain came by and seriously cooled it down for a bit and there in my path was one of the most heavily customized Vinfast VF3 model cars that I have seen yet.

It reminded me of how people, ok, kind of douchey people, would kit out their cheap cars with large chrome tires that were more expensive than the car was, and then get extension kits for the axels as well so the tires would jut out the side of them even though this offers absolutely zero performance enhancement.

There you have it folks. I like the decals on it as well but I have to say that I am a bit confused for what sort of angle they are going for here. Is is peace and love? Is it gangster? Is it rebellious? I suppose it is all of them and none at the same time.

These sorts of kits on these cars that are less than 10,000 dollars brand new have become a bit of a sensation over here in Vietnam because, well I don’t actually know why to be honest with you. It’s probably for the same reason why people who couldn’t afford a new car would put $1000 rims on their 15 year old Toyota Celica and then stand back in awe at how awesome it was even though I don’t think very many people, other than people that also did that to their own cars, actually thought it was awesome.

The 2nd picture is a pretty basic stock standard one that will likely be done up later but for now I think that is about what you get right out of the showroom.

I had the opportunity to sit in one of these cars in the past year and as far as the front seat is concerned, it is a lot more roomy than you might expect. I would say that it was the same size as any other car, small, or mid-size. Where you really run into trouble with these vehicles is the trunk and back seat because it has very little of either.

It remains to be seen if this car is a good value or not, it has only existed for a little over 2 years and if these batteries start failing or worse, start to burst into flames en masse, it isn’t going to be considered a very good deal for very long. I’m a bit afraid of EV’s because of this: We don’t really know what any of them are going to do yet because they haven’t been around long enough to prove it one way or another.

Good ting I am not in the car market at all and have no intention of ever doing so. As a foreigner living in a country that doesn’t offer residency to 90% of the people that live here, almost no one ever even tries to get a car. This is before we start to factor in that the roads here are chaos and don’t really adhere to any rules or laws, their own or anyone else’s.

I am content to admire these vehicles from afar. I hope to actually go on a ride in one some day but as of yet they are not allowed to be taxis and those are the only cars I ever find myself in
