RECEIVING THE WORD WITH ALL READINESS

“THESE [Bereans] WERE MORE FAIR-MINDED THAN THOSE IN
THESSALONICA, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”
Acts 17:11 (NKJV)

The heart with which the Word of God is received by the people determines how God would move in their midst. The Bereans were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures if what they were taught was right.

The heart with which the people received the Word of God would
determine what God would do in the gathering of such people. Even Jesus Christ, who had no limitation of the anointing, could not perform many miracles in Nazareth because the people there treated Him with contempt; they said is this not the carpenter's son (Matthew 13:54-58; Luke 4:22-24).

When the Word of God or the minister who brought the Word is despised, God would not be able to perform many miracles in such a place. The Word would not have effect or produce results maximally in the life of such people—because of contempt, unbelief, or whatever.

The Bereans were not indifferent to the Word of God, they were fair-minded and gladly received the Word of God that was brought to them (Acts 17:11).

This similar thing happened in Samaria when Philip went there with the gospel of Christ Jesus:
5 THEN PHILIP WENT DOWN TO THE CITY OF SAMARIA AND PREACHED CHRIST TO THEM. 6 AND THE MULTITUDES WITH ONE ACCORD HEEDED THE THINGS SPOKEN BY PHILIP, HEARING AND SEEING THE
MIRACLES WHICH HE DID. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; AND MANY WHO WERE PARALYZED AND LAME WERE HEALED. 8 AND THERE WAS GREAT JOY IN THAT CITY" (Acts 8:5-8 NKJV).

Whenever people receive the Word of God with gladness of heart, God usually moves and performs signs and wonders—great miracles.

Thus, do not despise God's Word that is brought to you: "THEREFORE, IT HAPPENED, THAT JUST AS HE [God] PROCLAIMED AND THEY WOULD NOT HEAR, SO THEY CALLED OUT AND I WOULD NOT LISTEN," SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS" (Zechariah 7:13 NKJV).
