What is a Rapid Game in Reversteem?

In Reversteem, players can choose different time controls for their matches. While standard settings allow up to 60 minutes per move, selecting the Rapid preset sets a strict 5-minute time limit per move.

If your opponent takes longer than 5 minutes to play their turn, you can claim an instant victory on-chain via a timeout claim! It keeps the action swift, intense, and perfect for a quick gaming session.

How to Start and Play a Rapid Match

Getting a game running takes less than a minute:

Head Over to the dApp: Open the live app at https://puncakbukit.github.io/reversteem/.

Log In: Connect securely using your Steem username and Steem Keychain. No private keys ever leave your wallet!
Create a Game: Click to create a new match and select the Rapid time control preset (5 minutes per move). As the creator, you'll play as Black and get to make the first move.
Invite or Go Open: You can leave the game open for anyone on Steem to join, or specify an invited user's handle if you want to challenge a specific friend.
Join as White: If you're responding to an open game, simply click Join to claim the White pieces. The clock starts the moment White joins!
Make Your Moves: Click on any valid highlighted square to flip your opponent's discs. Every move automatically generates a Steem comment containing your move's coordinates and an updated Markdown board layout for spectators to follow along!
