For the most accurate result, I always use a clear, well-lit phone photo straight on. Multiple angles help, but one good front-facing shot is key. I recently ordered from 3d figuren von fotos and got a spot-on miniature using that method. Their service made the whole process simple and the final figure looked just like me.
