Couldn't agree more! Even for travelers who swore off flying Spirit, their presence in the market acted as a essential price ceiling for domestic routes. Without an ultra-low-cost carrier putting downward pressure on fares, legacy airlines have much less incentive to keep prices competitive. Great analysis of how crucial lower-tier competition actually is for all consumers!
