Hi Steemians! I'm back - BEAUTYQUEEN555 from Calabar, Nigeria 🇳🇬

After a long break since 2022, I'm back with what I love - HOMEMADE SNACKS THAT SELL!

Today I will teach you how to make Authentic Soft FURA (In Ghana we call it BURKINA) that customers rush.

Many people confuse it: Let me correct you -
BURKINA = The FURA millet balls (the dark balls)
NONO = The thick milk/yogurt drink
In Ghana, when they say "Burkina" they mean Fura + Nono together in a cup.

MY 4 SECRET SPICES (Don't skip!)

For authentic Northern taste you need:

  1. Dry Red Chilli - gives aroma
  2. Black Pepper - strong heat
  3. Cloves (Kanafuru) - aromatic & sweet
  4. Dry Ginger - warm flavor

Ingredients (10 Medium Balls)

  • 2 cups Millet grains (Gero) - washed & soaked overnight 8-12hrs
  • 1 tbsp Dry ginger
  • 1 tsp Cloves (Kanafuru)
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • Pinch dry chilli pepper
  • Cornstarch / millet flour for dusting
  • Water

My Buchymix Business Method (No more mortar!)

STEP 1: SOAK
Wash millet 3 times to remove stones. Soak overnight. This is important for softness.

STEP 2: GRIND AND SIFT
Drain soaked millet. Blend together with ginger, cloves, black pepper, chilli using Buchymix Food Processor until fine powder. Sieve to remove coarse grains.

STEP 3: FORM DOUGH
Add small water to powder. Mix till thick moldable dough forms. Mold into medium balls.

STEP 4: BOIL - SECRET FOR SOFT FURA
Poke hole in center with thumb. Boil for 25-30 minutes in water. Balls will turn dark & firm.

STEP 5: POUND WITH BUCHYMIX
This is my business secret! Take HOT balls straight into Buchymix Food Processor. Use heavy-duty blade. Add 2-3 tbsp hot water. Blend until completely smooth, stretchy and lump-free. Saves you 2 hours of pounding in mortar!

STEP 6: FINISH & MOLD
Wet hands, mold into neat small balls. Roll in cornstarch to prevent sticking.

Serve with cold Nono (yogurt + milk + sugar) + groundnuts.

It looks like this: Soft dark Fura balls + thick white Nono + peanuts. Very delicious!

Business Tip

In Nigeria, call it FURA DA NONO, sell at N1,000-N1,500 per cup.
In Ghana, call it BURKINA, sell at 20-30 GHS per cup.
Stays 2 days in fridge. Don't mix Fura with Nono overnight.
