A GTA 5 mod adds building interiors, then deletes half the city
This is my favorite kind of modding story. PC Gamer wrote about the Open World Interiors mod for GTA 5, which does something people have wanted for over a decade: it lets you actually walk into buildings. Restaurants, hospitals, gyms, all the stuff you normally just drive past.
And it works. The problem is that the writer walked out of Franklin's house and found that a big chunk of Los Santos was gone. Not broken or glitchy. Just missing. They said they had no idea where it went or why.
That's such a classic mod trade. You get the feature you asked for, and you pay for it with something you didn't think was optional, like the ground. There's also a related mod where walking into a gym drops you straight through the world.
People will install it anyway. If you've been playing GTA 5 since 2013, you've seen that map more times than you've seen most of your friends. Trading a few streets for a working hospital interior is not a terrible deal.
If you do try it, keep a save backup. Half a city is a lot to lose.
