The interesting thing about ghost stories, is they usually appear to remind us not to do certain foolish things. For instance, do not play around with "Spirit in the Glass" because you are messing with powers and forces you do not understand, and you can't control any terrors that are released. My friends and I used to play "Bloody Mary" in the dark mirror, and also stare into darkened candle in a dark room. Can't say I ever saw an apparition, but it was always scary. Never used an Ouija board, but I was kind of freaked out when a pair of students brought it to English class for their speech about a hobby they were experienced with, and they did a full demonstration. I really wanted to get out of that room after a few minutes. Saved by the bell.
