Rapture Pre-Workout recalled for DMAA — and the 8 pre-workouts we rank, all without it

On October 7, 2026 the FDA posted a recall: its own testing had found DMAA, an amphetamine-like stimulant, in Rapture Pre-workout, sold in stores and online from January 2025 to May 2026. The company recalled one lot, 260327-4, in three flavors, and says it has received no reports of adverse events.

Is DMAA new?

No. The FDA calls supplements that contain DMAA illegal and has sent warning letters about it since April 2012.

Does a recall end it?

Not always. In a 2014 JAMA study, researchers bought 27 recalled supplements again, months after the recall. 18 still contained a banned drug.

How do you check your own tub?

DMAA can appear under 11 names on a label, and the FDA notes that "geranium extract" may indicate it. We read the labels of the 8 pre-workouts we rank: none lists any of them.

The FDA has warned about DMAA since 2012 and it was still in a tub in 2026. Why do you think it keeps coming back?
