NCAA Mens Hoops Recap 1/30/2020

What another fantastic night of NCAA basketball! There is a lot to talk about when it comes to the top 25 teams that were playing. That's not all though, there is one surprise I am going to save for you until later in the post!

I was at a meeting last night until quite late, so I wasn't able to watch any of the games on TV. I was carefully tracking them on my phone though. During that time, there were three games that really caught my attention.

The first was Northwestern at Michigan State of course because the Spartans are my team. The Wildcats had a pretty decent run towards the end of the first half, but as expected, they easily handled Northwestern for the demanding victory.

The second was the Vanderbilt/Kentucky game. Being at home I didn't thing the Wildcats would struggle as much as they did. The fact is they trailed for a good part of the game. I was actually a little surprised when I woke up this morning and saw that they ended up winning by 9 points.

The third game was the DePaul/Seton Hall game. Again, this one was pretty one sided in DePauls favor for most of the game. Yet another case of me being surprised when I woke up and saw that The Pirates had pulled out the win.

I apologize if you took my advice and watched the Indiana/Penn State game. Apparently the Hoosiers didn't bring the team that has been giving everyone in the Big 10 fits lately. In fact 49 points is the least they have scored all season against another team.

I am not sorry for recommending the West Virginia/Texas Tech game. In fact, this is another one of those that I should have put some money on. I am pretty much kicking myself for that one. I really need to find myself a bookie!

Here is the surprise for you... Check out that final score. That is pretty atypical for college basketball. Four overtimes! What a showdown that must have been. It wasn't top 25, but I bet it was probably one of the most exciting games of this season.

We have six top twenty five games slated for tonight. Two of them happening in the Big 10. The Iowa/Maryland game could be good. I wouldn't be shocked if Santa Clara pulled out an upset over Gonzaga either. The odds aren't that great, but it could happen.
