🎃 Halloween Story Contest: A Cold-Blooded October 🕯️ Week 1

October is here, and with it that tingle on the back of your neck that isn't the wind. We all keep a horror story that has been rotting in our memory for years, waiting for someone to open the door. Well, we're opening it: time to let it out.

We're looking for horror fiction, to celebrate Halloween with literature. And a warning: we scare with words, not with sloppy writing.

📜 Rules of the game

About the story

  • It must be original, unpublished, and scary (fear/horror/terror). Prose or verse.

  • Length: minimum 300 words. If you publish a bilingual version, only the text in your original language counts.

  • The original text must be 100% human-written. No AI to write your story.

  • If your language isn't English, you may publish in your native language and add an English translation. AI is allowed for translations and illustrations.

About the post

  • Publish in the Dream Steem community.

  • Use the tags #story and #dreamsteem.

  • Leave the link to your entry in the comments of the corresponding weekly contest post.

Participation

  • You may enter as many times as you like throughout October.

  • Only one prize can be won per week (Top 3 or honorable mention), so the dead get a chance too.

🏆 Prizes

Every week:

  • 🥇🥈🥉 Top 3: 10 STEEM each

  • 2 honorable mentions: 5 STEEM each

🗓️ Schedule

Each week begins on Thursday with the publication of the contest post and closes on Wednesday at 23:59 GMT (20:59 in Paraguay). Results are announced on Thursday, together with the next contest post.

  • Week 1: October 1 to 7

  • Week 2: October 8 to 14

  • Week 3: October 15 to 21

  • Week 4: October 22 to 31. As a special case, it closes on Saturday, October 31 (Halloween) at 23:59 GMT (20:59 in Paraguay), and results are announced on Sunday, November 1.

🔍 Who decides?

The jury is made up of the Dream Steem team and will judge: originality, atmosphere, and the strength of the ending. Their decisions are final, just like curses.

💀 Recommended (not mandatory, but highly appreciated)

  • Vote for and share this post.

  • Comment on and vote for other participants' stories. The dead appreciate company too.

  • Invite a friend to join. The more of us there are, the more the chains will rattle.

Write by day so you can sleep at night, and don't look back while you do. 🕸️

Thank you for participating, it is undoubtedly a very interesting story that leaves room for reflection on fears and their consequences. 📝 🎃 🦇

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
