The Exquisite Corpse #5: Now We Play It for Real
Exquisite Corpse Reloaded
Four editions in, and the pattern became obvious: when everyone can read what's already been written, the story stops being an exquisite corpse and starts being a very polite group essay. So we're leveling up — exactly as announced — and playing this the way the surrealists actually played it in 1925.
What changes
You will no longer see the story before you write your part.
- 🙈 Each participant who wants to contribute will receive, by private message, only the last three words of the text they need to continue.
- ✍️ You write your paragraph blind — no context, no safety net, just three words and your imagination.
- 📤 Once your part is ready, send it back to the organizer.
- 🧩 The organizer will stitch the pieces together as they come in, in the order received. The full story won't be visible to anyone — including you — until it's assembled and published.
This is the real exquisite corpse: fragments folded over, nobody seeing the whole, nobody steering the ending. If the result is beautifully incoherent, that's not a bug — that's the 1925 experience, working as intended.
What stays the same
- 🗓️ Starts: every Sunday
- 🏁 Closes: every Saturday, 23:45 GMT
- 🌐 Language: English (translate with whatever tool you trust if you don't write in it)
- 📏 Length: no minimum, no maximum
- 👥 Number of participants: unlimited
- 🧠 Your only job is to write something that could plausibly follow three words — coherence with the rest of the story is no longer your problem. It's ours.
- 🤖 Bots, multi-accounts, and AI-generated entries: still not welcome, still subject to being flagged and muted unless legitimacy is demonstrated.
Rewards — updated split
- 50% of the liquid Steem rewards earned by the weekly post goes to the participating authors.
- 25% goes to the community and special beneficiaries.
- 25% goes to the organizer.
- The 500 SP delegation from our dear @weisser-rabe for participants who meet the criteria remains in place.
New rule — proof of participation:
📝 Claiming your reward: Since paragraphs are now submitted privately and assembled behind the scenes, you'll need to leave any comment on the weekly post to be eligible for your share of the rewards — it can be a single word, an emoji, "here," anything you like. The only requirement is that it must not reveal your contribution to the story . This comment is simply how we confirm who participated and where to send the payout; the content of it is irrelevant. No comment, no reward — even if you sent your paragraph to the organizer. (That's a joke, there are always options for sending prizes; after all, this is Blockchain. But we would appreciate it if you could leave a comment, suggestion, idea, or complaint so then our bot will be able to do its job!)
One more thing
This is still evolving. If the "three words by DM" system turns out to be chaos nobody can manage, we'll adjust again. That's the deal with a pilot: it gets better because people play it, break it, and tell us what to fix.
Ready? Write to request your three words, and let's see what we build without seeing it.

Off to new horizons! I’m curious to see how it develops. Where are we actually starting from…? No opening sequence? I’d got used to coming across classics here ;-))
We should also add that anyone who has submitted a sequel to you must leave a comment so that Dubby can allocate the rewards at the end...

The game is entering a new stage, and it's going to be much more exciting! I hope!
Your comment is timely and important! To make the distribution of the prizes possible, each participating author must leave a comment on this post. But remember, you must not publish your part of the story, as it will remain secret until the entire "exquisite corpse" is assembled.

The Corpse is taking shape! We already have contributions from @emmabritt @beckymia @lunasilver @marblely and @ty-ty . Meanwhile @marcybetancourt and @weisser-rabe already have their 3 words and @dannyben39 is waiting for his 3 words.
Thank you all for the warm welcome to this new version!

Never heard of Welako. Are you the entire day on social media?
Pity you left us.
Hi Kitty! No one is leaving ;-)) Welako is an alternative frontend like upvu.org or steemx or steem-pro or others. It's developed and managed by @greece-lover as a more functional version of Steem. There is the possibility for private chats like in Teams or Discord. Give it a try - I like the mindset of not waiting for Steemit to work better at some point, but making it better oneself.

Thanks for the answer.
Yesterday we wrote at the same time LOL I only checked if I placed it underneath the last comment and there you were, I had to change mine partly 🙃
We cannot be everywhere, time is limited. A great day/week.
I am hesitant to leave my keys everywhere. I've been asked to try out a lot and by now I lost trace and most doesn't seem to work on my phone.
I go restart and charge know.

Yes, I was surprised that your follow-up appeared so quickly ;-))
I’m afraid I can’t tell you whether Welako works on a mobile, as I never use it.
Have a lovely day too!
I thought the same about you. Well, thus far it only happened once.
I will figure it out once more time or in the mood.
🍀❤️
I don't understand the true meaning of your words, so I'll just wish you a good day. Best regards!
?
Same for you.
The new rules are far better.
I'm glad you think so! Thanks to the suggestions, it will now be easier to read, although a little slower to participate, but I think it will be worth it!

We need to spread the word 😉
Ohh okay.
Hey @dreeyor @leorichies @emmano 😊 You guys write so well, I thought you might like this game, it's called Exquisite Corpse.
You will be given 3 secret words to write a story with, without seeing the full story. At the end, it's all combined and it comes out super funny and crazy 😂
The full contest and rules are in this post. You can contact the author for your secret words and submit secretly, just leave a comment on this post so your entry will be approved. Any comments like Hi, just NOT your actual entry.
You can invite your friends too — let's have fun!
Not to forget, this game runs from Sunday to Saturday every week. So this current round ends this Saturday — hurry before it ends! 🏃🏃🏃
Thanks a lot! 😁
My pleasure😊
