Reading this story about Polo truly touched my heart. There is no better way to teach children about responsibility and love during their formative years than through a pet. However, the experience of allowing a powerful, independent dog like a Doberman to live freely—without keeping him chained—and driving around honking the horn to search for him was truly unique. To me, the most remarkable part of the story was venturing into that dangerous area known as Wolf's Mouth to call out to Polo at his mysterious hideout. Only a true animal lover can deeply understand the anguish of losing a pet and the immense relief of getting them back. And, naturally, the pain of losing him in the end made you hesitant to form such a strong emotional bond with another animal afterwards.
