SC-33/5 | "Tetra Pack Blocks/Box Crafting"

Peace be upon you all friends!

I am very happy to join the Steemit Challenge Season 33 – Week 5 with my creative effort. This week's theme is Tetra Pack Blocks/Box Crafting, which got me thinking why not throw away the unnecessary boxes and cartons around the house to create something beautiful and interesting.

I always love crafts where ordinary and useless things can be given a new look with my hard work and creative thinking. With this idea in mind I created a small decorative model for this challenge with the help of cartons and used packing materials. I tried to create a clean and unique design using simple things.

🧰 Material required

For this task I used few common items available at home:

  • Empty Carton / Tetra Pack Box
  • Pencil and scale
  • Scissors ✂️
  • Cutter
  • Glue
  • Silicone gun
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • White paper
  • Rolls of Thin Used Biscuit Box
  • Black paint
  • Other small cardboard pieces

✏️ Step One: Design and Measurement

First I took a good look at the carton and guessed which part would fit which part of the model. Then measure at different places with the help of scale and draw lines with pencil.

1000205460.jpg

Don't rush this step because if there is a slight error in the measurement, it becomes difficult to fit all the parts together later.

1000205461.jpg

✂️ Step 2: Cut the carton

Now I carefully cut out the marked parts with a cutter and scissors. Along with the larger pieces, I also kept small pieces of cardboard because small pieces can be very useful in crafts.

In the picture you can see that the cardboard pieces of different sizes are produced separately.

📦 Third step: Building the infrastructure

After that I started to attach the different parts of the carton with the help of glue and silicone gun. Prepared the main body first and then added the other parts on top and sides.

For some of the round parts I used biscuit box rolls. Cut them into suitable sizes and attach them tightly to the carton. Thus slowly my model began to take shape.

This step was the most interesting for me because with each new part the model started to look clearer than before.

🎨 Step Four: Painting

When all the parts were well connected and the glue was dry, I started painting.

1000205478.jpg

I used dark black on the all main parts of the model plane while keeping some parts white to create a very good and unique contrast and combination between the two colors. When applying the paint, I tried not to make the brush strokes too random and to keep the color even on the surface of the carton that looks my box plane fantastic.

Black and white were also used on the rounded parts, making the finished model stand out more.

🖌️ Step Five: Final Decoration

After the painting was done I looked at the model carefully and re-corrected small parts where needed. Added extra color in some places and cleaned up the edges.

I tried not to make the model too complicated but to get a beautiful handmade look using simple cardboard.

📸 My last offer

Finally I took my finished model outside and photographed it in natural light. Its complete design and various stages are clearly visible in the picture.

What pleased me the most was how ordinary cartons and used items turned out to be a creation that I had previously thought was just a useless box.

🌱 Is recycling an environmentally friendly habit?

Yes, of course, I think recycling is a very good, nature loving and environmentally friendly habit and every one should must do that. Many things that are useless we think we throw away after use can be reused with a little creative thinking for protecting environment.

Cardboard, paper, bottles and packaging materials can help reduce waste if reused. Along with this, creativity develops in both children and adults.

For me, recycling is not only a way to reduce waste, but also an opportunity to create something new.

🤔 What difficulties did I face?

The most and very difficult thing I faced during this whole work was cutting the cardboard box sections to the correct size, measuring and joining them at the right angle to make plane properly. Some of the smaller parts kept falling out of place, so I had to hold them down for a while until the glue dried.

It was still a little difficult to keep the edges clean while painting, but working slowly improved the result.

💚 My opinion

This challenge made me realize once again that creativity and crafting doesn't always require expensive equipment and materials. Even the ordinary and common things around us can be part of our creativity and we create amazing things using them.

If we consider an old box as a blank canvas instead of just trash, many new things can be created from it.

I thank Mam @sualeha for giving us such a practical and creative challenge. Through this activity I not only got a chance to do crafting but also got a chance to understand the importance of recycling in a better way.

My work may be small, but it is the result of my own hard work, time and creative effort. ❤️

👥 My invitation

I invite three of my friends to join this beautiful challenge:

Me encantó este trabajo. El modelo de avión quedó perfecto y a cualquier niño le emocionará jugar con este modelo exclusivo.

Es una linda manera de transformar una caja de cartón y además darle otra utilidad, en este caso un juguete. Te felicito por tu creatividad.

Saludos.

@abdullaht, siempre es inspirador ver a otros crear. Me dan ganas de agarrar los pinceles también cuando veo esto.
