What is Genetic Modification?
"It means changing the "DNA" of a plant or crop with the help of science."
Allah Almighty has placed a guide (DNA) inside every plant. Scientists remove the bad page from this guide and insert a good page.
What are GMO crops?
Like a moth eats cotton, scientists extract that power from a bacteria that has the power to kill moths and put it in cotton. Now the cotton itself will kill the moths. This new cotton is called GMO crop.
Why are there its benefits in agriculture?
- Higher yield:
If the crop is protected from moths, the yield automatically increases.
- Savings from poisons and sprays:
If moths do not infect Bt cotton, the farmer does not have to spray thousands of rupees.
- Combating harsh weather:
Crops are being created that can grow in heat, drought and clay soil. This is very important for every agriculture country.
- More powerful food:
Like golden rice, which has vitamin A added so that children's eyesight does not weaken.
- Fruits and vegetables stay fresh for longer:
GMO tomatoes do not spoil quickly.
In simple words:
Genetic modification means "producing more and better food with less cost, less water and less land.
