Pick and Write Land Degradation 👉 #39
Land degradation refers to a condition of land in which its fertility and productivity begin to decline over time. This problem can arise due to various reasons. For example, continuous cultivation of the same crop, excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, misuse of water, lack of trees and vegetation, soil erosion and inadequate rest of the land can aggravate the problem.
I think the earth also needs our attention and care. If we plant a plant in a small garden, it is not enough just to put the seeds in the ground. We have to water it, weed it and take care of the soil. Similarly, land of large agricultural area also needs constant maintenance.
There are a few simple steps we can take to keep the Earth healthy. Crop rotation i.e. growing different kinds of crops in different seasons in types of agricultural areas according to crops can be beneficial to the land. Proper use of organic matter and natural fertilizers of different kinds of variety can help improve your soil health. Planting trees and shrubs can also help protect the soil from erosion. Similarly, it is important to prevent wastage of water and to irrigate as needed.
To me, land is a trust that we should preserve not only for the present but also for future generations. If the land is fertile, farmers will be able to produce better and we will also have more opportunities to eat healthy food.

Finally, I am of the opinion that no one person or one farmer alone can protect the land. We all have to do our part for this. Planting a small plant, not wasting water and protecting the land from pollution are also positive steps. Our small efforts today can be the foundation of a better and more fertile earth in the future.
