RE: Suggestions For Selection of Curators

in Incredible India2 days ago

Thank you @dove11 for tagging me and highlighting your post. It is an interesting topic and I see that there are already many opinions and discussions taken place in regards of selection criteria for Curators. It is always a difficult choice to make decision who to select for Steemit Team, there will be always people who will be happy and other who will be upset not to be among Curators.

Looking through your criteria, there area some reasonable points:

  • importance of regular Powering Up not necessarily on monthly basis it may depend of circumstances of Users

  • Reputation of 70+, I actually will not pay much attention to that because if the users get relatively regular support from SC03-09 or booming upvote and occasionally from SC01-02 then reputation is build up very quickly I noticed that on new accounts and it does not reflect of their engagement

  • The activity of users in commenting and engaging would be more important for selection process, there are few curators who are engaging in further communication even after they supported users and that motivates users more to follow an example

  • in regards of Steem Power, yes, it is important to have certain amount of Steem Power but you know yourself it is difficult to accumulate it and all of us who are actively commenting here had been on Steemit Platform for long time, we almost grown up with new Steemit Team and its rules. That is why we see the same names, higher Steem Power and we see the same names again and again among curator Teams

  • as to the rules not to vote of users from own country, it is almost not possible for some countries. We all know that the majority of users are from Venezuela. They are very active, they became perfect in their posting, the quality of content and photography. They are also very good commenting and supporting users, that is fact. Alongside with Venezuela there are many other users from other countries whoa re also active and being a curator from the same country it should not be stopped them to vote on users from own country

  • Smaller communities and fewer users from other countries, that is the weak point of Curators, there were many communities before but slowly many dried up and not much activities happening because there is not much support there. There are also users who do not post in any community and just do post own content using some tags. Some of users are interesting personalities and could be good company but they are not discovered and not supported. Those users will remain small and inactive. Those users maybe need to be visited, engaged by Curators. You know when we receive a BIG vote we are motivated and would like to find our what we should do to continue being visible.

  • Agree, that same users should not be selected on more than two consecutive months and four times a year. We have so many experienced users who can do fair curation, so please give chance for others and creates nice variety rather than going on easy way and selecting same users because we just know that they are good

Thank you for opportunity to share my view and for your great suggestion post!

Thank you so much for your support and opinion! Dear doctor @stef1 Seems like you haven't noticed that Venezuelans have long gone behind Bangladeshi users but yes, I appreciate there activities including the way they comment and support each other. That keeps a post alive and that's the basic of SEO.

As far rep 70, now it's free for all, I mean one should have 10k SP in his account and they are good to go as curators in a team or even solo. In fact, the site is making new experiments and my post is part of that experiment even if I am going through lot of grilling 😄

All said and done, I still remember the time when I first joined a team under your leadership and learned a few lessons which I feel will remain benchmark for me but no more practical in today's reference.

As far my disappointment, no I am not because I don't team up with everyone but I have my choice of members. i will not go into the rules with you because you're the one I respect for your ethics, so there...

Thanks once again for your support!

Oh... that is interesting is it really that number of Bangladeshi users are higher? I definitely missed that. It is good that there are many people from any country the point often there are many curators from one country where the majority of users are therefore, it is physically not possible not to choose them. I think quality and support of the active and engaged users but also not in excess.

You have your principles that you developed for you and that is great, my respect and appreciation!

If you check the way things are going on, you will know everything for yourself. I can only say the things are entirely different they used to be when you were active in main stream. Thanks again.
