5 Things a Site Engineer Should Check Before Concrete Casting
As a Site Engineer, I believe that proper inspection before concrete casting is very important for the quality and safety of a building.
Before starting concrete work, I usually check these 5 important things:
Rebar Spacing
Check whether the reinforcement bars are placed at the correct spacing according to the structural drawing.Concrete Cover
Make sure the required concrete cover is maintained properly.Beam & Slab Reinforcement
Check the bar position, size, spacing, lap length, and overall reinforcement arrangement.Electrical Conduits
Make sure electrical conduits are properly placed before concrete casting.Shuttering & Centering
Check that the shuttering is properly aligned, well-supported, and free from leakage.
A proper inspection before casting can help prevent many problems later and improve the overall quality of the construction.
