Today I have come to the busiest area of our country where people gather every day, and this is a port. The name of this port is Dhaka River Port Lalkuthi Ghat. Today I will write about this place, and then I will pin this place on the Steem Atlas map. I hope everyone will like it.
How does this place or the work of the people there benefit your own daily routine? |
|---|
Lalkuthi tarminal, Dhaka River Port is a busy and important port in our city. The name of this river is Buriganga; it flows through our country's capital, Dhaka, and the main reason why the city is busy is that more than 44 routes of passenger launches ply on this river. Therefore, this river port is known as the most important place in our country. The livelihood, hard work, and daily work of many people are carried out around this tarminal every day. The work of boatmen, workers, boat drivers, traders, goods carriers, and other working people here makes the lives of our common people easier in various ways and thereby improves the economic aspect. Due to their hard work, the system of transportation and goods transportation by river is operational.

The work of the people of Lalkuthi tarminal has an impact on my daily life. Many people travel from one place to another easily by river. The boatmen of the tarminal safely ferry passengers, and since passenger launches also travel on 44 routes, everyone uses this terminal. Due to the presence of the port, many people can reach their destination in less time and more easily. Especially for those who regularly use the river, the services of this tarminal are very important.
In addition, the work of transporting goods in the river port area also plays a very big role, such as the waterway being used to reach various types of goods, food, and necessary items from one place to another. The workers here work very hard to lift and unload goods. And all this is done through this terminal. There is law and order here where no problem arises, and since there are police from the shipping department, there is no crime here; they always perform their duties around the clock.
If you could interview or give a few words of thanks to one of the workers at that place, what would you say to them about their work? |
|---|
Lalkuthi Terminal is known as a well-known place in our country. Every day, this terminal is used by ordinary people and businesses of various people. Thousands of people move through this port every day. However, since it is under the government, the journey here is done in a short time. You can easily travel to different districts by passenger launches for less money. A separate ticket is required to enter the terminal, where the ticket price is 10 taka (2 steams) per person. This ticket applies to everyone.
There are various types of traders inside where they sell fruits and other foods. Many people now buy fruits and other foods while going to their relatives' houses and take them to the launch.
If I had the opportunity to interview any employee of Lalkuthi tarminal , Dhaka River Port, then I would have thanked him sincerely first. Because although the work of a tarminal worker or laborer seems simple from the outside, in reality it is a very important, difficult, and responsible job. They work hard every day to keep the river port running and play a major role in the movement of common people and the transportation of goods, and solve various problems.

I used to tell him, “The work you do is directly related to our daily lives and provides security. Maybe many people do not always notice your hard work, but because of your hard work, many things run smoothly, and major problems do not arise.” The way a boatman safely drives a boat on a river to transport people from one place to another, the way a laborer carries heavy goods, these jobs require a lot of hard work, patience, and a sense of responsibility. Their work is not just about earning money, but has become a part of serving people. Every day, countless people benefit from their work. If they had not worked responsibly, the travel of passengers and business activities would have faced many problems, which would have destroyed our economy and environment.
In my opinion, getting the opportunity to talk to a worker at Lalkuthi tarminal means not just knowing a person's story, but also getting a closer look at the lives and contributions of those hardworking people who are silently moving our society forward.
What do you think would happen in your community if this place or service stopped working? |
|---|
I think that if an important place like Lalkuthi tarminal, Dhaka River Port, suddenly stops working, then many kinds of problems will arise in the daily life of the people of my area. Because this tarminal is not just a place of transportation; it is involved in the livelihood, business, and communication system of many people.
If the tarminal service is stopped, it will create a big problem for the people traveling by river. Many people travel from one place to another by boat or other watercraft every day. It may be difficult for them to find alternative means, and both time and cost will increase. Especially those who use the river regularly will face more problems.

The livelihood of thousands of people associated with Lalkuthi tarminal will be stopped. This terminal is related to the economic condition of our country, so boatmen, laborers, small businessmen, and people of various professions depend on this tarminal for their income. If the tarminal is closed, these people may suddenly become unemployed or face financial problems. This will have a negative impact on the lives of many families.
Apart from this, there can be big problems in the transportation of goods; if the goods do not move from one place to another at the right time, it will have a bad impact on business because almost 50% of the goods in our country are moved. If the activities of the tarminal are stopped, there may be obstacles in the supply of goods. As a result, the supply of some essential goods in the market may decrease, and the transportation cost may increase. Ultimately, this will also affect the common people.
In my opinion, for the development of an area, it is very necessary to keep such service places operational, and this is not just an area but the heart of our country. Lalkuthi tarminal is not just a place on the banks of a river; it is a part of people's communication, economy, and social life. Many people benefit every day due to the hard work of the workers here.
Finally, I would like to say that river ports like Lalkuthi tarminal are of great importance for the country. It makes the lives of the people of our country easier and helps to keep economic activities going. Therefore, such services should not be stopped but should be improved further, so that the common people can get better benefits.
When you stop to observe, what sounds, smells, or images make you feel the true "dynamism" of this place? |
|---|
This terminal is open every day and 24 hours, making it convenient for everyone. That day I went there, and many things there attracted me. When I stood next to Lalkuthi tarminal, Dhaka River Port, and stopped for a while to observe the surroundings, I could feel the real dynamics of this place very well. The place is always a reflection of busyness and life. The movement of people here, the sound of boats, the work of workers, and the environment of the river all create a different feeling.
The first thing that catches my attention is the sound here. There are always different types of sounds in the terminal area. The sound of the boat engine, the call of the boatmen, the conversations of passengers, the busy voices of workers, and the sound of loading and unloading goods make the whole environment lively, which was quite a joy for me. Hearing these sounds, it is understood that some work is going on in the terminal at every moment. Instead of silence, these sounds seem to carry the identity of the life of the tarminal.

Besides, the scenery here also makes me feel the real busyness of this place. The boats plying on the river, the passengers waiting at the wharf, the hustle and bustle of workers and traders busy with their work, the peaceful environment of the river- all together, it feels like a moving picture. Some are waiting to go to their destination, some are busy with goods, and some are working hard for their livelihood. There is a purpose in the work of every person.
The smell of Lalkuthi tarminal also creates a different characteristic of this place. The smell of river water, the smell of oil from ships, the mixed smell of nearby food shops, and the daily life of people make this place different from other places. Even amidst these smells, I can feel the activity here.
Finally, it can be said that the sounds, smells, and sights of Lalkuthi tarminal together reveal the true soul of this place. This environment helps me understand that a river port is not just a means of transportation, but also an important part of the economy and people's lives in an area. This busyness is the real dynamism of Lalkuthi tarminal.
