The Price of Success!!!

Hello steemians, the life we live is full of ups and downs, which is why most of us require purpose and success to have peace. But when it becomes something that doesn't make us happy and in the right mental state, you can't call that success because it's lacking a key element of living a successful life, which is peace and comfort.

1️⃣ Can someone truly be called successful if they achieve their biggest goals but lose their peace, happiness, or important relationships along the way?

Being successful in life doesn't just speak about you achieving all your goals in life and eventually losing your peace, important relationships, and happiness. This is because success is not defined by that; I see success not in the form of acquiring fame, money, or even reaching that position in life that you're seeking in life. Success is also about being able to enjoy the things that you have achieved with individuals that care about you.

This has happened to a lot of people where they may work extremely hard and then become really successful and wealthy but often neglect those who are a key figure in their life that makes them lose relationships that will keep them strong and at peace. All the success and money that you can acquire can make you feel comfortable, but it won't be able to repair broken relationships and times with kids and relatives. For me, I consider success not just as becoming wealthy and achieving your desired goals.

Lacking happiness, peace of mind, and losing important relationships doesn't make success look like success for me. Nevertheless it's all depends on what one considers success to be.

2️⃣ If you had to choose between financial success and a peaceful, meaningful life, which would you choose?

Choosing between a meaningful, peaceful, and healthy life and financial success isn't hard for me because I know my priorities to live a life that will keep me happy. I really value a meaningful and peaceful life because it would allow me to enjoy the simple things in life, take care of myself, and also maintain good relationships with others.

Having a meaningful life can also lead to making some financial sacrifices. The truth is that I may not become extremely wealthy or be able to afford the kind of luxury I want for myself, which could cause me to work within my means. This is the reason why I would prefer to acquire a suitable amount of wealth that could help me have peace and stay healthy.

3️⃣ Imagine you have worked for many years toward one major goal, but achieving it now requires you to compromise one of your important values.

The most important quality of mine is patience. I cannot give in on this quality to attain my goals. This makes me happy, focused, and at ease even when situations are not happening in accordance with my wishes. For me, it is not worth attaining my goals if, at the cost of it, I am sacrificing the value of being myself. I should take my own time and get something through honest means rather than do anything rashly and regret my actions.

Once there was a situation where my friends Daniel, Chinedu and Michael were doing a school project. In order to complete it, we needed a presentation board made of cardboard, colour pens, images, and a written report. As the time to submit the work was approaching, Daniel said that we should copy the work done by another group. On the other hand, Chinedu insisted that we needed to rush the work. But I was against it, and I thought that we could still do our work if we stayed patient and cooperated. We distributed the tasks and completed the work in the end.

This experience taught me that the success achieved in life will be more valuable when you have not sacrificed your values in order to do so. It will be better to take more time and reach the goal with a clear conscience than to hurry up and use means that are against my views. With patience, I will always have enough strength to move forward.
