Honesty is all about being sincere, truthful, and free of deceit. Standing for the truth at all times and building trust within yourself. In the past, to be honest, there was usually a reward for it, but today the reverse has become the case due to what I have experienced as an honest person.

Today, if you stand for honesty by speaking the truth, you will be criticised, and people will begin to see you as a betrayal unlike before that when you speak the truth you will be applauded for speaking the truth.

Some months ago, as course representative in my department, I noticed something was wrong in my department during my absence from school for about 2 weeks. This became a problem in my department with the head of department and other lecturers, and I was called upon to come and speak.

I was honest with my words, and I stood for the truth, but my coursemates were against me simply because I spoke the truth. I have come to discover that being honest is good, but you will be criticised when you speak the truth, which is the reason why most people often say the truth is bitter.

Like in politics, when you speak the truth, you will be hated, because politics is all about lies and giving people hope that will never come to pass. Most of the time, it is good to be honest, and also to be dishonest when there's a need for it.
