Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 153:A missed Opportunity I Hate to Remember.

in Steem4Nigeria3 days ago

Hello amigos, in life we are presented with a lot of opportunities. Still, we fail to utilize them, so I suggest that we seek assistance from God, find a mentor, and stay focused and believe in ourselves, because I trust that these key values can help us make the best of any opportunity that comes our way.

Define "Opportunity" in your own simple way.

The word opportunity has many meanings; some see it as the availability of an avenue to do something when given the chance. But I see the world as an opportunity as a chance to do something important, such as improving your lifestyle and mental health, achieving your goals, and living a good life.

But I still cannot say that opportunity can be classified from that perspective alone because it can also be in the form of getting a good job, meeting the right individuals, learning new skills, and discovering new strategies.

In essence, what I am trying to say is that opportunity is what I call the availability of time to create or do something meaningful that takes you forward in life. Moreover, you can only make use of opportunities for the right purposes if you know recognize these opportunities and take a step in putting effort to make things happen and not let them pass you by.

What opportunity did you miss in the past that you wish you could get again.

In life, we would eventually come across multiple opportunities knocking for us, just to be opened and made to happen. Nevertheless, we find ourselves not being able to make use of these opportunities due to a lot of reasons,s like peer pressure, depression, seeking validation from other individuals, and not believing that we can do it even without having others to motivate us.

However, I would really say that I missed the opportunity of being consistent on the Steemit platform. I really wish that I had done better back in the past and really made use of the support that is available for newcomers, because I am sure that if I had put in time and effort, I would have attained at least 10,000 SP. My Steemit journey has been full of surprises, ups and downs. I urge all newcomers to put in time and effort to not just grow their account but make the platform great.

I can't really say that it is my biggest regret because, aside from being in love with the blockchain and the internet, I would say I have other real life opportunity is I wish I had utilized. I still remember that to this day; I don't have many friends because I have rarely socialized with individuals.

But I don't think that is the problem; what I find not good is not being able to ask someone for help because I do not talk to them, not because I see them as bad people, but because it's a little hard for me to approach some people.

Why did you miss it and how did you later find out it would have been one of the best things that could have happened to you.

The reason that I missed the opportunity to stay consistent on the Steemit platform was caused by a lot of things. First of all, I thought that all I had to do was create a post for the sake of receiving support " curation support" not because it would add quality and value to the platform; this then cost me not receiving votes from SC01 & SC02. What I discovered right now is that quality content gets more appreciation rather than creating a post just to stay active.

I also cannot forget to say that I really felt discouraged by the fact that I hardly received votes for weeks, which eventually caused me to create a post whenever I felt like posting. I have noticed that not just creating a post consistently can make your content become visible; this is why the "steemit team" has also encouraged individuals to comment and engage with others by voting.

What advice do you have for your readers.

Here is the advice I have for my readers and fellow Steemians;

  • Seizing opportunities through intention: From my experience, there might be certain opportunities that do not look valuable initially but will make a huge difference once we take them seriously enough.

  • Remaining consistent: I think I should have known earlier how powerful this virtue is. If I reflect upon my experience on Steemit, I think I could have made more progress by being consistent and bettering myself each day.

  • Appreciating contribution: There are times when we forget about the value of giving rather than taking. Contributing something valuable to whatever we are doing makes a great difference both in life and on Steemit.

  • Asking for help without hesitation: Even though sometimes I feel shy asking people for help, I know that it helps us find many new ways that otherwise we wouldn’t find.

  • Learning from mistakes: I have missed some opportunities before, and I try not to feel sorry about them but see them as an opportunity to learn how to use new chances in the future.

I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on opportunity, especially how honestly you reflected on your Steemit journey. Your point about consistency, contributing value, and being willing to ask for help is very relatable. Sometimes an opportunity does not look important at the beginning, but with time we realize how much potential it had. I also appreciate that you chose to learn from your missed opportunities instead of simply regretting them. That mindset can help us recognize and handle future opportunities more wisely. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and honest experience.
