You have a race set before you as an individual believer, and it has to be run with endurance.
Our text says, "let us run with endurance the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1). It is a race, but it has to be patiently run. The King James Version uses patience in the place of endurance.
Running the heavenly race might not be with ease. You would have to exert strength, and running the race will cost you some things. You might be tempted to give up as you are running (Hebrews 10:23).

Therefore, run in such a way that you may win and obtain the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24). Things you go through might not be palatable, and you might be considering giving up — that is why endurance and perseverance are needed (Hebrews 10:34-38).

This is why Hebrews 12:2 says you should look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus ran His own race with endurance because of the Joy that was set before Him. He endured the cross, despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

There cannot be enthronement without endurance. You endure the cross, the suffering, and you despise the shame, before you can reign with Jesus.
Today, ask yourself: What weight is slowing you down? Are you running to win?
Don't give up. Keep running!
