SVM Testnet Update: 152K Blocks Reached, 10 Active Validators Post-Upgrade

in Steem Dev16 days ago

Hi everyone,

Following the release of the streamlined Validator Update Guide, I am pleased to report that the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) testnet has successfully stabilized. The coordinated v0.0.4 upgrade and the subsequent node reset workflows have proven highly effective in restoring network health.

Network Health and Current Metrics

The SVM testnet is operating smoothly, consistently producing blocks and processing transactions with the new security patches and withdrawal-payout hardening firmly in place.

Current Testnet Statistics:

  • Total Blocks Produced: 152,000+
  • Total Transactions: 4,449
  • Average Block Time: ~5.4 seconds
  • Active Validators: 10 / 11

Reaching over 152,000 blocks post-upgrade is a strong indicator of the network's resilience and the effectiveness of the state-sync recovery process.

Validator Status and Final Call to Action

The network is currently operating with 10 out of 11 validators fully updated, synced, and actively participating in both consensus and oracle duties. A special acknowledgment to the node operators who utilized the new ./update.sh workflow to quickly recover from the upgrade halt, rebuild their oracle clients, and get their nodes state-synced in minutes.

Action Required for @happycapital:
We are currently waiting on just one validator, @happycapital, to complete their update. If you are reading this, please refer to the recently published SVM Validator Update Guide.

The guide provides a simple, automated script to handle the code pull, data reset, peer refresh, state-sync, and oracle rebuild. Once your node is synced and your oracle is running, you can submit the unjail transaction to rejoin the active set.

Next Steps: Sherpa Protocol Deployment

With the validator set nearly fully restored and the v0.0.4 security patches successfully executed, the network is in an excellent, stable state.

Our next major milestone will be the deployment and testing of the Sherpa Protocol smart contracts. This will mark a significant step forward for the SVM ecosystem, bringing native decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities, trading, and liquidity features directly to the Steem Virtual Machine environment. We will share the deployment schedule and testing instructions once the final validator is back online.

Testnet Disclaimer

Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is strictly in its testnet phase. All bonded STEEM, transactions executed, and tokens generated are purely for testing the consensus and EVM execution layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.

Thank you to all validators for your swift action, transparency, and continued dedication to securing the SVM network. Your cooperation during this upgrade cycle has been exemplary.
