FRIED YAM AND BEEF TOMATO SAUCE RECIPE

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE3 days ago (edited)

Welcome to another cooking session with yours truly, @an8gel. Today, I'll be making a simple but very mouth watering recipe.
I decided to make this meal because I wanted something simple, filling and, most importantly, very tasty. I love how the crispy yam goes so well with the soft, spicy tomato sauce and tender beef. This was the meal I had in mind from the beginning: freshly fried yam served with a rich tomato sauce filled with beef.
The fried yam is crispy on the outside and soft inside, while the tomato sauce adds that spicy, juicy flavour that brings everything together. Looking at the final plate already makes the whole cooking process worth it.

A mouthwatering meal

PREPARING MY YAM FOR FRYING

I started by peeling and slicing my yam into pieces. I tried to keep the pieces fairly similar in size so they could fry evenly. After slicing, I washed the yam properly and got it ready for frying.Honestly, fried yam is one of those foods that doesn't need too much introduction. Once you see a plate of it, you already know what's coming.

FRYING THE YAM

Next, I heated my oil and carefully added the sliced yam. I allowed the yam to fry until it became nicely golden and crispy on the outside. Once it was ready, I took it out and set it aside. At this point, the kitchen was already smelling really good.

PREPARING THE BEEF TOMATO SAUCE

After frying the yam, I moved on to the tomato sauce.
I added some groundnut oil into another pan and allowed it to heat up before adding my sliced onions. I let the onions fry for a little while because I wanted their flavour and aroma to come out properly. This simple step makes a difference because the onion becomes part of the flavour base of the sauce.

ADDING MY FRESH TOMATO AND PEPPER MIX

Once the onions had fried a little, I added my freshly blended tomato and pepper mixture. I allowed it to fry and cook properly while stirring occasionally. I also added my seasonings to adjust the taste and give the sauce more flavour. I like my tomato sauce with a little bit of heat, but of course, you can adjust the pepper according to your preference.

ADDING MY ALREADY FRIED BEEF TO THE SAUCE

Now came one of my favourite parts: adding the beef. I prefer using beef for this particular sauce because I love the way the beef absorbs the flavour of the tomato and pepper mixture. But you don't have to use beef. You can use chicken, goat meat, turkey or any meat you enjoy.

ALLOWING EVERYTHING TO SIMMER TOGETHER

After adding the beef, I stirred everything together properly and allowed the sauce to simmer for a little while. This gave the beef enough time to soak up the flavour of the sauce while the tomato mixture became thicker and richer. At this stage, I was already checking the sauce every few minutes because the aroma was doing serious advertising in my kitchen.

THE FINAL MEAL

And here is the final result, crispy fried yam with a rich, spicy tomato sauce and well-seasoned beef. Simple ingredients, simple process, but a very satisfying meal.
I really enjoyed making this, and I think this is one of those meals that works for breakfast, lunch or even dinner.

After cooking,I served my delicious meal

Now I'm curious, though...
If this plate was placed in front of you right now, would you eat the fried yam with the sauce separately, or would you pour the sauce all over the yam?
And what meat would you use if you were making yours? Beef, chicken, goat meat or something else?
Let me know in the comments. ❤️

It looks very tasty and your photos look good. I wonder how you took them. If I take a photo if my pan/in the kitchen it is always dark.
