THE FOOD WE EAT IS MORE THAN JUST FOOD

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE14 days ago

Have you ever taken one bite of a particular meal and suddenly found yourself transported years into the past? Maybe it was your grandmother's cooking. Maybe it was something your mother prepared when you were younger. Or perhaps it was a simple meal you used to eat with your siblings after school. That is the interesting thing about food. It doesn't only satisfy hunger. Sometimes, it carries memories.

The Beauty of Good Food

Food also has a wonderful ability to bring people together. A table can bring family members, friends and even complete strangers into the same space. Conversations begin, stories are exchanged, laughter follows, and before you know it, everyone is connecting. And then we have our endless food debates. 😂 Jollof rice or fried rice? Yam or plantain? Soup with swallow or rice? Everyone suddenly becomes a food critic when their favourite meal is involved.

But beyond enjoyment and memories, food plays an important role in our health. The foods we eat provide nutrients that help our bodies grow, produce energy, repair tissues and function properly. This means that while enjoying our favourite meals is important, we should also pay attention to what we are putting into our bodies. A good relationship with food doesn't have to mean refusing yourself everything you enjoy. It can simply mean learning to enjoy food while making nutritious choices regularly.

LET'S TALK What food immediately reminds you of home or childhood? And what is one meal you could eat repeatedly without getting tired of it?

To answer your question: I can't eat much, already as a child I was not able to, so in many cases I associate it with feeling stuffed and being in pain.
Is there anything you can wake me up for? It depends how hungry I feel or my mood. Most likely chocolate or the apple pie or butterpie my grandmother's baked.

This BOOMING vote is yours and well deserved!

Thank you so much for sharing this! ❤️ I can understand how food can become associated with discomfort when you've experienced that from childhood. And honestly, chocolate and homemade apple pie sound like very convincing wake-up calls! Your grandmother's baking must have been something special. Thank you also for the kind words and the support. I really appreciate it! 🥰

I don’t know if my grandmother really was that good, but back in the day we simply didn’t have much, so on birthdays we’d either have apple pie or butterpie, and very occasionally we’d get breadpie, made from old bread, and I liked that too, although I didn’t eat much of it; these days I can’t eat bread at all. Thanks for your comment. I hope you have lots of fun on Steemit.

She still tried her best by always showing up 😊
Thank you so much, I sure will
