RE: POLL: Are Communities Outdated?
It was exactly the same for me. I no longer post in various communities, because I didn’t like having my creativity criticised and being told that I can’t write and that I should write the way they expect me to.
I’ve had arguments on several occasions because the moderator couldn’t explain why I had to allocate a certain percentage of my upvotes to them.
I rarely received upvotes, and it took more effort than it was worth. I noticed that certain communities are discriminatory: they only want that percentage and then ignore you.
That’s not what the word ‘community’ means to me.
I decided to give up on those big communities, the contests, courses and challenges, as it’s always the same people who win, not to mention the fact that I found the hosts lacked the skills or knowledge. Many did it simply because they received high upvotes, which was the only reason to apply.
I must say it was a relief to step away from all of this and create my own world doing what I enjoy.
In the end, what matters most is that I post what I like and receive a bit of appreciation. That’s why I make a point of leaving comments.
Greetings @wakeupkitty

There is no point in arguing or getting upset on here. People are not going to listen, or care very much about what you have to say. They are going to do what they do, and you have no control over them. It is a decentralised platform - a good and also bad thing. Good that people are free to do what they want and bad because there is no control. It's each for himself/herself and anything and everything goes.
You are one of the most active and hardworking Steemians on here. Just continue doing what pleases you. Cheers!
Are you sure this platform is decentralised? If that would be the case Steem Curatirs wouldn't exist, neither all those rules set by steemitblog, the steemit team and moderators (in the past). No one would help out or could come to your aid and there wouldn't be anyone fighting spam, scam and so on.
Right. My bad. Steemit is only partly decentralized. It runs on a decentralized blockchain, but the website and company behind it are centralized.
