The Moments in Focus Photo Contest returns for its fifth edition — with a new theme, a fixed prize of 50 STEEM, and a new approach to selecting the winner.

Photography is not always about spectacular landscapes, famous landmarks or extraordinary events.

Sometimes, the most interesting photographs emerge from the simplest things around us.

An empty chair.

A forgotten object.

A reflection in a window.

An ordinary street corner.

A detail that hundreds of people walk past without noticing.

For this edition, we challenge you to find beauty in the ordinary.

Show us something familiar through your own photographic vision.

🎯 THE THEME — BEAUTY IN THE ORDINARY

We are looking for photographs that transform everyday subjects into visually compelling images.

An ordinary object, a familiar corner or a detail we usually overlook can become the subject of a compelling photograph.

The image above illustrates the spirit of Beauty in the Ordinary: finding visual interest in something simple through composition, light, colour and photographic creativity.

This is only an illustrative example, not a photograph to reproduce. We want to discover your own interpretation of the theme.

Your photograph may explore:

• Everyday objects and overlooked details
• Ordinary streets and familiar places
• Simple moments of daily life
• Unexpected patterns, textures or reflections
• Small scenes that tell a story
• Beauty hidden in apparently unremarkable surroundings

There are no restrictions on photographic genre.

Street photography, nature, architecture, still life, portraits, macro photography and creative photography are all welcome.

What matters is your interpretation of the theme.

The challenge is not to photograph something extraordinary. It is to make the ordinary extraordinary through photography.

Choose carefully — you may submit only one photograph.

🎨 EDITING IS MANDATORY

As in previous editions, your photograph must be edited.

Editing may include:

• Exposure and contrast adjustments
• Colour correction or creative colour grading
• Highlights and shadows
• Cropping and composition
• Black and white conversion
• Sharpness and detail
• Selective adjustments
• Other creative photographic processing

Editing should contribute to the final result and demonstrate your personal photographic vision.

Apparently unedited photographs may not be considered.

The original photograph must have been taken by you.

AI-generated images are not accepted.

📋 CONTEST RULES

1. Publish your entry in the Moments in Focus community on Steemit.
2. Submit only one original photograph inspired by the theme Beauty in the Ordinary.
3. The photograph must be your own work and must have been edited.
4. AI-generated images are not eligible. The submitted image must originate from a real photograph taken by you.
5. Publish your contest entry in the Moments in Focus community within the 10-day submission period.
6. Place the link to your published entry in the comments section of this official contest announcement within the same 10-day period.
7. Both requirements are mandatory. Entries that are not published in the community or whose links are not submitted in the announcement comments before the deadline will not be considered.
8. Entries that do not meet the contest requirements or whose image quality prevents a meaningful photographic evaluation may be excluded.
9. By participating, you confirm that you are the author of the photograph submitted.

⭐ HOW WILL THE WINNER BE CHOSEN?

This is not a popularity contest.

For this fifth edition, the winning photograph will be selected exclusively by the Moments in Focus organiser, @marcoteixeira.

There will be no community voting to determine the winner.

The number of upvotes, comments, followers or supporters will not influence the final decision.

Each photograph will be evaluated considering:

Interpretation of the theme · Photographic quality · Composition · Creativity · Editing · Visual impact

The winning photograph will be the one that, in the organiser's judgement, offers the strongest overall photographic interpretation of Beauty in the Ordinary.

The organiser's decision will be final.

There will be one winner only.

The photographer selected as the winner will receive:

This is a fixed prize, independent of the rewards generated by the contest announcement.

📅 CONTEST DURATION — 10 DAYS

The contest will remain open for 10 days from the official announcement.

Both the community post and the entry link in the announcement comments must be submitted before the deadline.

The winner will be announced on Day 11, in a separate post published in the Moments in Focus community.

The winner announcement will include the selected photograph, the photographer's username and an explanation of the reasons behind the selection.
